The sick "jokes" that Obama would need a food taster, etc.,
if Hillary Clinton was the VP, have to stop. I've had to alert the mods about several of these already this morning, and it's been very depressing and disillusioning to see how they keep popping up.

I can't tell you how offensive they are to Clinton supporters, and to anyone rational.

If you Obama supporters who think they're funny can't see what's offensive about them, ask yourself how you'd feel if the situation were reversed and Clinton supporters were objecting to the possibility of him being the VP by "joking" that he might kill her. Is THAT funny to you? Real laff riot, huh?

I'd expect drivel like this from Pat Robertson and his followers.

It should not be accepted here.

I believe people who post these "jokes" should be tombstoned.

1. I agree. People have so much emotionally invested
in this primary, they don't know what to do with the excess.

6. I don't really see them as jokes
Edited on Wed May-07-08 12:05 PM by Tyrone Slothrop
It's a legitimate concern.

The only two "unity" tickets in the modern era have been JFK/LBJ and Reagan/Bush. I doubt I have to remind you that both JFK and Reagan were shot during their first terms.

There are enough deranged, racist nutjob Clinton supporters out there for this to be a concern, IMHO.

On edit: If the comments you're referring to are insinuating that Hillary herself would be out to get Obama, that is indeed crossing the line. I am referring to the general possibility that *someone* would want to off him to see her in the black man's place.

7. I'm happy to stop cracking wise about Clinton, but it would sure be nice
if the track ran both ways. I'm pretty sick of the way Obama - the man who is most likely the next POTUS - is treated by some around here.

9. Actually I'm not convinced it's a joke. How far did the Bush Admin go...
Edited on Wed May-07-08 12:09 PM by WA98296
to control the most powerful country in the world, it's treasury and all it's resources? Do you think they were capable, for all of that, to LIE? To STEAL? To CHEAT? Do you think someone, anyone would be willing to KILL for all of that? I don't think it is so far fetched to imagine.

The reason that there has been "joking" as you say, may be because people have honest concerns given her almost narcissist fight-on regardless of the reality.

11. Hillary has done so many shameful things to try and beat Obama
Edited on Wed May-07-08 12:17 PM by Cali_Democrat
Now it appears that she wants to destroy him for the GE so she can run again in 2012 and say...."I told ya so."

If Obama were to give her the VP slot, I would have concerns about Obama's safety because Hillary has proven that she will do anything to become president.

17. I've been aware of and followed politics since the McCarthy hearings. What
she did in her campaign is quite tame.

If anything, what she did has made Obama a better candidate.

Several weeks ago I floated the idea that Clinton might be a stalking horse for Obama. Obama and Clinton could be pulling the biggest and best dirty trick ever against the Republicans. Would America be paying attention to Obama if he wasn't in a fight for his political future?

This long campaign has been very good for voter turnout. It has kept Obama in front of the media. The most important task he had was getting known by the public. This long process has worked well in that regard. The MSM has given hours and hours of free coverage to our candidates and ideas. McCain can't get a word in edgewise.

15. And the people saying it isn't a joke sound delusional.
It's really disillusioning to see that so many Obama supporters are that foolish and paranoid.

They actually expect Hillary supporters to be able to support Obama, while they post that the Clintons are evil enough to be assassins?

Of all the posts on this forum that are harmful to Obama's cause, those are probably the worst. I thought his supporters were more rational than that. And I believe MOST of them are. But I'm horrified by how many think the "jokes" are okay, or even comments on a real danger.

18. If she were on the ticket, I wouldn't trust her
to not sabatoge the campaign, with the hope of running for president in 2012. What easier way to damage Obama's presidential campaign than from the inside? as a the VP candidate?

19. I would never joke about something like that...
...because it is a very serious topic, and I wouldn't put it past the Clintons to
do something like that.

People are completely naive if they don't understand what has happened in our country. The
neocons in the DLC have joined hands with the neocons in the Republican party, and they
will do anything to maintain power and continue their destruction of America.

You're right, it isn't a joke.

Sadly, it's very jarring to discuss that. I would never bring it up in a post. However,
you'd be living in a fool's paradise if you fail to recognize the ruthlessness of these
corrupt criminals that are like a cancer on our democracy.

Hillary and Bill were folded into the neocon fray. I don't know what they're capable of
and what they're not. Why on Earth would anyone take a chance? I don't trust them.

You would be foolish to trust them--on any level.

22. Obama's chief economic advisor is also the economic head of the DLC.
But I don't go around saying Obama would murder someone to become president. This is because I'm not a COMPLETE RAVING LUNATIC.
