Strategist question - Super Delegates v. KY and WVa
I think a genuinely smart post from J... (don't make me have to spell now) pointed out that KY and WVa are Clinton states, even tho Obama has won the nomination.

With that in mind, with the knowledge that Obama is the presumptive nominee in all but name, wouldn't it be a good idea for the supers to go ahead and put Obama over the total to blunt the returns we'll see in KY and WVa?

then those contests wouldn't have any real import anyway, as far as the nominee is concerned, and would provide the background for the Obama campaign to say they're shifting their focus to the general election.

maybe there's some sort of deal in the works right now to let the race play out all over to continue to increase voter registrations, but after yesterday's primaries, it seems that the deal is so done that it would be better to minimize KY and WVa's numbers.

anyone want to tell me why this is a no-go?

2. There isn't any reason that I can think of...

Save this one... "Let Hillary have a couple of meaningless victories, especially if she promises not to attack our nominee, so that she can raise money to retire campaign debt".

Personally, I'd just as soon her supporters kept that money... and let the Clintons learn an $11.5M lesson. But then I'm a vindictive type and I'd just as soon declare this primary over today rather that let anyone live under a false delusion.

3. yeah, I get that one
but considering her voters are among those most hurting under the bush economy, I wouldn't want them to bear that brunt - and I don't think Hillary will pay for it herself anyway. if others on here are correct, she'll cut a deal to pay off what's left.

but maybe I should also be scorched earth and say... let the Hillary supporters toss away money they can't afford to lose... except I can't do that.

5. She can write a tell all book and make that money back
or bill can give something like 50 to 100 rubber chicken speeches and all is forgiven.

OR bill could hop a plane to go help make some mineral or resource deal with another evil fuck dictator and it's all good.

4. It might cause fewer bruised feelings if they wait for OR to give Obama a pledged delegate majority.
It would appear then that actual voters had put Obama over the top, rather than the party elite.

Oregon votes on the same day as Kentucky, thus blunting the latter's impact.
