*****ELECTABILITY: Which Democrat became president by winning.....
these portions in the general election:
7% of the African American vote?
31% of new voters?
39% of the male vote?
37% of the liberal vote?
33% of the urban area vote?

Because that's all Clinton pulled last night in NC. Those, obviously, are absolutely crucial demographics for Democrats to win overwhelmingly in November. Imagine our chances even if you only look at the last group. What state do we carry without blowing out McHundred in the urban vote?

And Indiana, the state she and Rush won, wasn't much better for Clinton either. (In Indiana, 88% of the people who said they were voting for McCain in November voted for Clinton last night.) There she copped only 37% of the new vote, 11% of the African American vote, and 40% of the urban vote. How could she ever expect to win in November with such a horrible record of attracting these votes? It'd be a landslide for McCain.

Except that it's all bullshit (aside from the Rush effect--not much doubt about that). Because of course she'd outperform her primary numbers in these demographic categories among actual Democrats against McCain, when Democrats wouldn't have a viable alternative.

And of course Obama would outperform ALL his primary numbers in each demographic among Democrats against McCain, too. And of course the Clinton campaign KNOWS THIS FULL WELL. And of course their harping on race is no accident, because they want to scare supers into thinking this is the ONLY demographic that determines the outcome--despite the fact that Obama now holds his own or does better versus McHundred: IPSIS, Obama +4; Rasmussen, Obama +1; CBS, Obama +11....AND psssst....all those polls include lots of white people. This, now, even NOW in the midst of all our party acrimony.

It turns out that one white vote still just equals one vote, and no more than one vote, and so if you add up votes, white/black, young/old, regardless of where they come from, Obama does well against McCain. The Clinton Camp has already noticed this phenomenon of one white vote equaling just one vote, by the way. Even they have noticed they've gotten their asses kicked from, well, all those damn votes of all sorts accumulated by Barack Obama.

The Clinton Camp is full of shit, and so is anyone who wants to tell you that RACE RACE RACE means everything and none of HER primary demographics mean anything. If you hold them to the same argument, it indicates an absolute ass-whooping from McCain. It means that whenever she's polled ahead of McCain, it's meant nothing. It means that his white support means more than her own black and white support in those head-to-heads, because he has more white support (even though fewer people in total actually support him).

Put this bullshit to bed.

1. You figure that McCain would win 90% of the AA vote in the GE
against Hillary?

3. Of course not. That's why the RACE electability argument is bullshit.

8. I don't think so after yesterday, there's no way she is still in it to win it.
But I think she will stay through WV and KY to keep them in play, and after she wins them by less than expected margins, will bow out gracefully...

9. Give her the day. I am sure she is just keeping her option open
when everyone tells her she is through (which will take a day) she will get the message.

5. I reject the idea
I reject the idea that each candidate will only get the voters who voted for them in the primary. We have seen this postulated plenty of times by Clinton supporters. It wasn't a valid argument then, and it isn't a valid argument now.
