I'm blue collar...I don't feel threatened or looked down on by Obama

I work in Concert Production. I am a stage manager. Things I have done in my industry include: Production Runner, Production Assistant, Stage Hand, Rigger, Merch, drive Semis. And though I'm not a card holder, I am active with IATSE and MOST of my friends have their cards.

I left the industry for a couple of years and used my college education to work white collar jobs. Wasn't for me...and I feel bad for you cubicle dwellers. Must suck to live your life that way. "Only 40 years of this until the company MIGHT give me a pittance.". But I digress.

I don't get this whole "Barack is an elitist" stuff.

Just don't.

While I've said continually that I would vote for either candidate, it has been Barack I've identified myself with. Perhaps being raised by my Mother.

I don't know.

But the "elitist" meme is such utter and sheer un-thought jack-assery...I don't know where to begin.

2. I told my blue collar dad last night he is an elitist, lol.

No college education, worked hard all his life as an electrician and has never had much money. What he does have is a brain; he is an avid reader and loves history; can tell you just about anything you'd want to know about world and american history.

So I called him an elitist because he thinks and is able to discern the bullshit from facts and supports Obama. He thought that was funny.

8. That's how my grandfather was.

He attended a year of college, then signed up to fight in WWII. After that, he was a salesman his whole adult life. But he read voraciously, he was always learning, always wanting to find out things. His mind was just insatiable. He did the crossword puzzle every day and would walk around with black fingertips from the newsprint. His huge dictionary was just in tatters and he yelled at Jeopardy every day.

I think that's what kept him healthy and vital well into his 90s. I think he would have liked Obama. He could spot a genuine person versus a bullshit artist at 50 paces.

I mean, technically I'm white collar, but I don't really "feel" blue or white collar or whatever. I don't really look at that. Hee, I guess like Michael Scott on The Office, I'm "collar blind." ROFL.

Anyway, I've never gotten the elitist smear. Does that mean people who are smart are bad? I WANT a smart president. We see where having a stupid one gets us.
