Prediction: McCain will pick Kay Bailey Hutchison as his VP in an attempt to exploit disappointment
of white, older, female, Democratic-leaning independent voters who wish that Hillary was our nominee.

2nd prediction: It will not work.

4. Someone suggested that to me a while ago
And I think it would be a really smart move for McCain. I think Obama needs to pick a woman for his VP, preferably one from the clinton camp. Granholm would be perfect if only she were eligible!

6. She has a pretty good shot to become governor of Texas, can't see wanting to run for or be VP

10. Her gubernatorial ambitions are seen by many as an attempt to boost her desirability as a candidate
to the the first woman VP. If Texas governor is a stepping stone, then why bother if you can get there in one step? Plus, if she runs as VP and loses (which would be likely), it only boosts her chances in the run for governor.

13. The VP slot is still a warm bucket of piss. "ambitions" for it are to use it for something else
like Edwards last time to run for president this time.

But you get good exposure from being on a "short list," and no presidential candidate is going to admit that people turned them down for the VP slot.

9. More likely pick is Carly Fiorina, infamous CEO of HP and Fox News business consultant
Carly Fiorina of the $42,000,000 "golden parachute" controvery/lawsuit has become a frequent surrogate for John McCain on MSNBC and I would suspect CNN and Fox, as well.

Fiorina was just now on MSNBNC speaking again as McCain's surrogate.

12. She has a LOT of baggage

that would just further expose his inability to offer any new regulatory oversight to PREVENT messes like the investment-bank/lenders fiasco. Not to mention the whole spying-on-employers mess that was attributed to Carly by many as well. Might broaden his appeal to the free-marketers, but he'll still have a huge fundie gap.

11. I think Hutchison
is less anti-choice than most National Republicans would like. Since somehow he comes out as a moderate from the party he is going to have to select someone even crazier than himself for the VP slot. A scary thought indeed.

16. I regard Kay as one of the most disgusting politicos in our nation's history: her
hypocrisy is possibly unparalleled imo exceeded only by her disingenuousness and possibly reichousness. :D

19. Hillary Will Really Put Her Support Behind Obama If McCain Picks....
a woman for VP. Hillary wants to be the first woman president and can't take the chance that McCain's VP might wind up with that title.

hell of a fund-raiser.
