With Obama's convincing victory in NC, and his moral victory in IN, it is becoming glaringly apparent to even the most die hard Hillary supporter, and Hillary herself, that she is not going to win the primary.
So now we're going to see the drumbeat start up, and grow increasingly louder, for the formation of the so called Dream Ticket, Obama and Hillary. I've seen this before when Hillary has been handed a loss, the pundits, members of Hillary's campaign and her supporters all have started pushing the notion that she not only should have the VP spot, but that she deserves it.
But now that she has been repudiated in no uncertain terms, the drumbeat for a Dream Ticket is going to become overwhelming. The pundits started pounding the drums last night, and her supporters here on DU are now firing up too. This is going to nothing but spread, trying to force Hillary onto the ticket.
I truly hope that Obama resists this massive pressure to put Hillary on the ticket. It isn't going to help him anywhere excepting perhaps in PA and/or OH. The negatives for Obama far outweigh the positives however. First, putting Hillary anywhere on the ticket is going to be poison, since her name alone will massively increase the turnout in the fall. Every single RW out in the boonies will come out to vote against Hillary. Also, it would be more than awkward to have both Hillary and Bill(and please don't kid yourself, they're a package deal) hovering over his presidency, second guessing him, dominating the headlines, etc. This wouldn't be a good thing.
Rather, Obama should scratch Hillary from consideration, and go out and find himself a VP more in line with his needs. Somebody who can shore up some states and win others. He's already stated that he's not interested in the Dream Ticket, let's hope that he stands firm.
