Can donations to Obama be used ONLY in the primaries - or can

I want to give more now, but not if it can only be used in the Primaries yet to come.

An individual may contribute a maximum of $2,300 per election (the primary and general are separate elections). By submitting your contribution, you agree that the first $2,300 is designated for the primary, and any additional amount up to $2,300 is designated for the general election.

But Im not sure what happens when the primary ends.

2. I think donations could be used up until the convention

If he becomes the presumptive nominee, the GE effectively starts earlier, so that is a period of time (something like June-Aug) when he could use primary donations to campaign against McCain. Can't use GE funds before the convention, and can't use primary funds after.

Anyone want to confirm this?

...GE spending is only after the official nominating process.

5. I believe that Primary $ can be used during the General, but not vice versa.

I asked that question in reference to funds available to pay off Hillary's January loan and that was the sourced response. I remember it, but didn't bookmark it.

7. I've given $500 so far, and plan to give the same in the general.

Wish I could do more, but we have student loans to pay off so that's the most we decided we could do from our budget.

I do have a paypal account I use with selling household stuff on eBay, so I may try to sell some more old clothes, etc... to come up with a little more (it is my "fun money" and not part of our budget). It is a challenge against the republican machine, and everyone is so strapped these days, so I'm trying to think of every way I can to help out a little more.
