The contest between Barack Obama and John McCain involves a stark contrast between the dawn of a new day in America, to the sun setting on the Bush-Cheney era. Let's work to make this a democratic win in the White House, Congress, and at the state and local levels.)

thinking about how when after the first couple debates between all the democratic candidates, some of his advisers expressed some concerns about his performance. And Barack told them not to worry, because he was planning to light it up in the 4th quarter.

122. I was too excited to sleep well last night.!!
When I finally did ,in the wee hours of the morning, I woke to the alarm, from a very vivid dream. In the dream, I was in a small coffee shop, waiting for some of my loved ones to join me (those living, and some of those that have gone on.) After I got my coffee, I noticed that there was a jukebox, and as I was thinking of playing a tune, a song came on called 'Love lifted me'. As my dear ones arrived, one by one, everyone in the place started singing along, and clapping their hands in time to the music. The last one to arrive was my late husband, and as soon as I gave him a hug, I woke up!!! I woke up singing that song this AM. I don't know if you know , or have heard it, but it says that when all seems lost, and nothing else can help, LOVE LIFTED ME !!:grouphug: :loveya: How appropriate for the morning after the beginning of a NEW DAY!! DC

7. Yes, I thought the full impact had hit him and he was stunned.
He really thought they had turned NC around, and Indy would be a big win.

I'm sure he was looking like that because some insider had suggested it might be time to bow out. His actions toward Hillary after she spoke seemed uncharacteristically solicitous and protective. I think he really was feeling her pain, perhaps more than Hillary.

Chris Matthews and Mourning Joe are comparing this to a boxing match. If we apply the same measure to Bill Clinton, he is like an old fighter who sees a young champion and thinks, "I can beat him!" But the old man is past his prime, and Bill is going through what happens to every man who tries to come back once too often: he can see openings, but can't get his punches off in time, and he sees punches coming, but can't get out of the way.

is always optimistic.

It will be each and every individual democrat's responsibility to decide if they want to support the democratic nominee in November. Being an optimistic person, I have full confidence that the vast majority will. And what will it say about those individuals who do not?

...H2O Man. My dog, born 9-9-2001, is named Sunshine ...so all the musical 'sunshine' songs hit home for me.

I think a new day is upon us...and we deserve it IF WE WORK FOR IT.

Those of us who know the importance and potential consequences of this November election have to convince our fellow Democrats, our friends and our families of it. I am confident that we will. :)

is the key. The work we do is the "democracy." It's the actions we take, now, rather than some goal in the distant future. Yesterday's primaries were the result of a lot of hard work, and all of the democrats who participated deserve our thanks.

For all that Obama is very mainstream, relatively speaking he has a progressive edge. I think Hillary Clinton was right when she complained that the progressive movement was one of her stumbling blocks even though she was dead wrong to suggest that progressive opposition amounted to intimidation.

I watched the Lieberman/Lamont duel with amazement and delight, how the "netroots" had such a decisive impact. It was a bit sad to see Lieberman beat the Democrat Lamont with massive Republican support in the Connecticut election, but nowadays when watching Lieberman stand at the right shoulder of Bush and McCain at every photo-op available I'm totally convinced that the Connecticut Democrats did the right thing and took the party in the right direction by backing Lamont. To my mind, that's just plain fact - by his subsequent actions Lieberman has made that the only conclusion available. There's nothing redeeming about the man. There's a difference between losing with dignity and disgracing oneself.

Lieberman/Lamont <-> Clinton/Obama is a bad simile, no doubt unfair. Except as it applies to a small minority of HRC supporters who'll jump ship out of spite, in an attempt to ensure a McCain win. Probably it's better to let stuff like that "sink", as one poster puts it - and it sure is time to go full out for Obama, and to waste no more time on internecine conflict. Esp. with traitors who now say they won't vote the Democratic ticket. Not with the GE right around the corner. Again, there's no more time to waste on internecine conflict -it's time to focus exclusively on winning the GE.

Edwards's only problem is he has been the vice presidential candidate before. I respect Clark a lot especially since I was part of the draft Clark movement and then supporter until he dropped out in 04.

I'm confident that there is a lot going on behind the scenes right now, including discussions with the super delegates. If Clinton is unwilling to do the right thing, others may take actions very soon that result in the same outcome as if she steps aside at noon.

is the sun. And it is shining today.

I know that a lot of people were invested in the Clinton campaign. Likewise, many were equally invested in the Edwards, Biden, and other campaigns. And they wanted their candidate to win, just as much as I wanted Obama to win.

In "real life" (as opposed to the internet), a lot of my good friends are/were Clinton supporters. This includes co-workers who I did voter registration/education with in 1992 and 1996 for President Clinton. And I worked for Senator Clinton in 2000 and 2006. I don't have any problems with their support for Clinton, nor do they have any problem with my support of Obama. But Obama has won, and it's time for democrats to respect that.

As our party's nominee, Barack Obama provides us the vehicle to obtain important victories in Congress, and on the state, county, and city/town levels. This is the current situation, and the song fits perfectly.

54. I'm not a Clinton supporter. I never have been.
I don't think I'm going to achieve any important victories with Obama in the WH, when he stands to obstruct, in some cases, and in direct opposition, in others, to the victories I wish to achieve.

Obama will probably win the nomination. Of course, I haven't voted yet. I'd like to think that my vote, and the votes in my state, carry equal weight.

I'd also like a clean, democratic primary process. I'd have more respect for the nominee as the party's choice if I thought all announced candidates had the same starting line and ran on the same track. In my opinion, it's been a stormy race, a boggy track, and too many "fixes" were in to make what happens at the finish line worthy of celebration.

We don't even reach the finish line until the convention.

I'm a DK supporter, but I never expected him to win. I knew better; I just think it's the right thing to do to support the best positions on issues.

I haven't had a pony in this race since everyone else dropped out before super Tuesday. It's been a long, hopeless primary season, and I'll be writing in a better candidate when I vote. I got my ballot yesterday, and have a week or so to make up my mind who to write in.

I'll probably do the same in November.

55. Of all the candidates
who were in at the beginning of the primary, I probably have more values in common with Kucinich than the others. I also think very highly of John Edwards. I contributed to most of the candidates, because I thought it was important that they each had the opportunity to put their ideas before the public.

The system has been severely damaged, and the most serious damage has taken place since 1980. In my opinion, when Cheney instituted the "shadow government" in 2001, our Costitutional democracy was suspended. The November elections will not heal all of the damage -- it will take at least 20 years to repair the damage that Bush-Cheney have done. But the election of Barack Obama and other democrats opens a small door, and provides the possibility. And as Rubin Carter taught me, he who bemoans the lack of opportunity often ignores the fact that small doors can open into large rooms.

I'm focusing my efforts on local and state races, and on the House and the Senate. Smaller doors than the POTUS, but there are more of them, and more hope to get more of them open.

be able to have a true Constitutional democracy without having the grass roots investing time, money, and energy in "local" elections. I include everything from school boards to village/town/city/ and county boards. The most severe damage that has been done to our democracy is found on that local level -- in the homes and schools and businesses where people live their everyday lives.

after reading your postings on the Beatles, I have more appreciation for them. My sister and her best friend did a dance to their song Imagine in grade school. They wore hot pants and the principal made them go home and change before performing. Her best friend was the real beatle lover with the posters. She was a Cherokee Indian. I think they used to visit their grandmother on the reservation.

I think I wore out two Rutles albums in the day, wishing so hard that The Beatles would reunite...

remember that film. George had a good working relationship with Monty Python. When I was first in college, a lot of us spent a lot of time watching Beatle films and listening to albums, including the backwards stuff.

When some of older DUers talk about things like the year 1968, I think it is probably hard for younger folks to really appreciate how an much influence the Beatles had. I have been thinking of posting a little essay about John's song "Revolution," which I think summed up a lot of 1968 quite well.
