Report: Wesley Clark urges Hillary to drop out
http://www.americablog.com/2008/05/breaking-wesley-clark-reportedly-called.html

The king of the pundits, Mark Halperin, drops a tantalizing hint about General Wes Clark, a strong Clinton supporter and fellow Arkansan: "The biggest question: Will any of her supporters (including Wes Clark) say publicly or privately she should quit?"

We like General Clark here at AMERICAblog, and have a bit of a history with him. In fact, we've heard that Clark did call Hillary tonight, telling her it's time to quit. Perhaps the general's most dangerous mission to date.

2. I hope he can convince her.
And then join Obama for an Obama-Clark ticket. That would be unbeatable.

and possibly one of the people who could run with Obama as well. It's time...

Hillary will need to be told to drop out by her close supporters. Rendell, Clark, Bahy need to do it.

18. Clark's neither stupid nor delusional.
He's likely known for a long time that it was over, and in any event he never really participated in the dirtiness of the campaign. But this is the best time for somebody like him to step in and tell her it's over.

27. I have
That's part of the reason I think he should be Obama's VP. I get the feeling that he was a Clinton supporter out of loyalty for him being General under the Clinton administration, but he probably didn't see Hillary as much better of different than Obama.

I really don't see how an Obama/Clark ticket could lose.

31. Never said it was fact.
That's why it says "Report" right in the title. However, I'm sure Clark can see the writing on the wall and hears the fat lady singing. And considering he's a Rhodes Scholar I'm sure he can do a little math as well and figure out that Clinton is DONE.

I just heard that Clinton will probably get 800,000 to 900,000 more votes then Obama in Puerto Rico. She is going to win the popular vote.

42. Finally....
Seriously, this is the compassionate thing to do. Someone has to be strong enough and care enough about her to give her the tough news. Those in her immediate circle obviously are engaging in a whole heapin' lotta groupthink and are spurring her and each other on to continue even when doing so is destroying her and the Clinton legacy. Thankfully Clark is man enough to step up and do the right thing.

Please let this report be true!
