Hillary wins Indiana because of seniors (exit poll data)
Just reported on CNN
Under 65: Obama 53, Clinton 47
Over 65: Obama 31, Clinton 69

I guess they like that gas tax holiday since they won't be around long enough to see our roads and bridges fall apart.

2. Hillary "won" Indiana because of the Limbaugh Effect.
Let's throw Republican cross-over cynical asshats under the bus, not our elderly Democratic voters.

It's pretty obvious what happened here....

15. Don't let the door hit you in the behind
on your way out of this party then. Only an idiot let's someone else decide who they vote for, and you sound like you're in that camp with your 'your candidate' remark. Such an easily impressionable mind. Perhaps I'm a Hillary supporter and I accomplished what millions of dollars of TV ads try to do, keep you in Hillary's camp with just one sentence. Nice to know your mind bends with the drop of a hat.

Never said that anything was wrong with seniors. Hillary's camp has been the one dividing our electorate into different voting blocks for her superdelegate argument. This senior result clearly shows that her spin will be laughable if it doesn't include the senior discrepancy. Now let's see if the political pundits pick up on it.

12. Did you even look at the margins?
Obama won under 65 voters 53 to 47. Hillary won over 65 voters 69 to 31. It is the Hillary camp which has been dividing the voter electorate into blocks. It's clear here the most important block for Hillary's win was the over 65 voters. Maybe because they want gas relief now and could care less about investing in clean energy.

Also, this makes it harder for Hillary's camp to spin the results as Obama not appealing to large and various voting blocks, when it's just the seniors giving Hillary her win.

9. Indiana: More than 1 in 8 Clinton voters actually support John McCain

Indiana: More than 1 in 8 Clinton voters actually support John McCain

Tue May 6 The Jed Report

Based on numbers from the Indiana exit poll (via MSNBC), I determined that 13% of Clinton voters in Indiana actually plan to vote for John McCain in November, nearly three times the number of Obama voters who plan to vote for McCain.

As we assess the election returns tonight, it is imperative that we factor out pro-McCain voters for both candidates. The exit poll will continue to be tweaked as the night goes along, but based on these preliminary numbers, 13.4% of Clinton's total vote should be discounted and 4.9% of Obama's vote should be discounted.

Effectively, for Clinton to say she won without the help of pro-McCain Republicans, she needs about 53% of the vote.

Update at 9:19 PM, Pacific: Indiana is so close that even if Clinton "wins" she will not be able to claim a "Limbaugh-proof" or "McCain-proof" majority. Remember, it doesn't really matter who wins the state. Delegates are what matters. Winning a state is really a matter of perception, and given these numbers of pro-McCain voters for Clinton, by that standard, tonight Clinton lost Indiana.

17. Obama wins North Carolina due to block black voting.
What's your point?

You have the nerve to complain about seniors voting for Hillary when Obama is getting 95% of the black vote?

21. Reminders while you single out the black vote...
Black primary voters in North Carolina make up about 1/3 of the participants, leaving a significant portion, almost a supermajority, who are not black.

Other significant numbers from North Carolina:

Obama won 58% of the male vote, 55% of the female vote.
Obama won 57% of voters with college degrees, 56% of those without degrees.

A Clinton supporter could argue that the black and college vote is overrepresented in North Carolina; an Obama supporter could also argue that the white and elderly vote was overrepresented in Pennsylvania. The final numbers of states won, popular support, and especially, delegates are what count in the end. Obama remains ahead in this race.
