Donna Brazile loses patience with Paul Begala
Video at link: http://rawstory.com/rawreplay/?p=988

Democratic strategist Donna Brazile, who managed the campaign of Al Gore in the 2000 election, got into a heated back-and-forth with fellow talking heads on CNN amid discussions of Tuesday’s primary results.

Paul Begala, political consultant and former adviser to President Bill Clinton, began by saying, “Some of the commentary tonight kinda bothers me. If point is that there’s a new Democratic Party that somehow doesn’t need or want white working class people and Latinos, well count me out.

“We cannot win with eggheads and African-Americans,” Begala warned, which got an animated rise out of Brazile, yielding laughter and applause from those in CNN’s studio.

CNN host Campbell Brown chimed in, saying of Obama, “Why hasn’t he been able to yet?”

Responded Brazile, “Do you think that Barack Obama would be leading in the pledged votes, the delegate votes, the money, if it was simply because somehow or another black people … became the majority? Barack Obama has won the hearts and the minds of white voters as well as black and Hispanics.”

This video is from CNN’s Election Center, broadcast May 6, 2008.

Begala's jealous because David Axelrod is about to steal his rep as a genius political consultant - if he hasn't stolen it already.

or words to that effect.

Remember how the GOP was talking about NEVER voting for McCain...Coulter, Rush etc. They are all in line now.

We'll come together too.

24. Besides spending the past 25 years as James Carville's personal ball polisher, what has he done?!
Paul Begala has been carrying Carville's nutsack since they hooked up in the Lloyd Doggett senate race of 1984, first against Kent Hance, then against Phil Gramm. He's a boy Friday, a glorified briefcase carrier.

Believe me, it doesn't get much "whiter" than this. Everyone I know supports Obama, I see Obama bumper stickers every day and I know my phone will be ringing today with people wanting to volunteer, donate, etc. after last night. You should've been here after he won Iowa. It was nuts! People were so excited, e-mailing, calling, coming into our office. They just want to be invovled in any way they can because they are excited about Obama. While all are white they vary in every other way, educated, not, well-off, not, etc.

28. Paul Begala is a whiny, crying baby
His girl is losing and he wants to take all his marbles and go home. That's very adult of him! :sarcasm: The Democratic Party wants to use black people while we sit in the back of the party bus and nod our heads to whatever they say. Now that they don't like the candidate that the majority of black people are supporting, they think we hijacked the bus. Ridiculous!

Edited on Wed May-07-08 06:26 AM by Eric J in MN
...to a man as stupid as Paul Begala.

He graduated from "The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas School of Law."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Begala

Apparently, that was before he decided that people with college degrees should be denounced on national television as "eggheads."

When that "What's her name" republican shill called the superdelegates the "democrat elite", Donna let her have it with "We're the ones who sweep the floor and set up the chairs. We are the workers. We are the farthest thing from elite that there is."

It was impressive.

40. Begala is for Hillary?
I didn't know that. From what little I heard of the guy on some radio shows as a guest, he seemed to be leaning to Obama. I know he said he was completely disgusted with the Hillary campaign, and that 'Hillary will quit when monkey's fly out of my butt'. I'm aware of his role in the President Clinton campaign staff, but he seemed to throwing them overboard.

He says some playful, tongue-in cheek stuff, so I wouldn't worry about the 'egghead' comment. Although it's kind of funny how that group can be playfully insulted while working class whites in notoriously forlorn regions can't even be called 'bitter'.

42. That is a disgusting man. His aim to divide people bothers me the most.
You need everyone to win in the GE, Paul. If the working class or Latinos stay home and don't vote for Obama in the GE or vote McCain they get what they deserve: economics for the wealthy, no change on healthcare, a war that will not end anytime soon. I doubt they will do that.

43. I'm losing patience with ALL of them...
I was glad she called them, especially him, on their bullshit. They have no problem, over and over, in their slimy, smarmy voices trying to trivialize his wins. They blow off his good numbers, his fundraising, the WHITE voters he IS getting, because apparently only the white vote Hillary gets are the ones that count. They keep saying over and over, he's not getting white women, and basically saying he's only winning because he's getting the black vote, well Hillary's only winning the wins she gets, white women, because she's a woman. Idiots.

He deserved a lot more than she gave him, all of the ones, almost mocking Obama did. And they wonder why people are crying racism all the time... it's because it's there ALL the time, and it was there with him, that IS what he was implying. Message to Begala: You're yesterday's "expert." Your game is over. He has won. :) P.S. You're an ass.
