The gas tax crap backfired on Hillary
I think it sealed the deal for Obama. It showed Obama sticks to his guns and has some integrity and principal, while Hillary looked like a panderer. I think the gas tax issue hurt Hillary more than Rev. Wright hurt Obama.

1. It helped him frame her as the Washington candidate,
especially since both she and McCain supported the gas tax holiday. Helped him play the outsider.

2. I agree...and the best part, was that McCain came up with the idea first...
...if this is any indication of how his campaign works, things should go really well in November.

4. I think that 30.00 coming in the same week at a 1200 rebate check didn't make much sense in the end.

5. I think so, too...
I thought she blew it with that. She had an opportunity with that and lining herself up with McCain on it did hurt her. Also, this issue took the focus off of Wright and Obama.

Obama was smart to reject it and I think most of America agreed with him. This issue put him over the top, IMO.

6. Agreed.
You're right, it confirmed the charge that she was a panderer. She may have won some votes with it, but it wasn't worth it for her.

8. Sounded just like "A chicken in every pot!" to the average, jaded voters.
Just more lies and promises which will not be kept.
