97. Lawrence O'Donnell is saying it, too. I think it's spot-on.
The fact that she's not going to go on TV tomorrow morning, first thing, and keep on fighting is REALLY significant.

And remember, too - when she's not there, driving the spin and keeping herself in the punditry mix, all they'll have to talk about is Barack's bonanza of the night before compared to how she underperformed at a critical point in the campaign, AND the fact that she's not there.

That will build on the momentum Obama now enjoys, anew, and the PERCEPTION of that momentum.

Very telling. O'Donnell was talking about the effect, for Clinton supporters, of having her be the first face they see in the morning to buoy them up and keep them fighting and keeping their morale intact. And she won't be there tomorrow morning. I think that's extremely significant.

what do you propose that will make us more successful and how does it happen?

your candidate has made her case to the Democratic electorate and it seems like you are not getting your way on this. maybe you are just wrong. are you really smarter than all the people who voted differently than yourself?

Even if it doesn't get mangled in a post office sorting machine, it is folded and sits around under unknown conditions of temperature and humidity which might result in ink being transferred to places on the ballot where it doesn't belong.

10. If so, Dems are done for the GE
and it may be time to accept that now and prepare for the inevitable. Losing another presidential election.

Its a grim prospect, but if Clinton withdraws, we might as well get used to the reality of it - we've let the news media and corporate America choose our candidate.

Maybe we can win in 2012. Let's start working towards it now.

65. We can't afford to wait four more years
Look it hurts when you candidate loses...I felt like dirt after PA, but Clinton and Obama are similar on issues. Sen. Obama is a good guy. He can win. Give it a few days. For the good of our country McCain must be defeated. Can you imagine four years of GOP rule? (shudder)! Think about the judges, the war, and the economy-McCain must be defeated. This has been a tough primary, but really it's over. McCain should be our focus now. My husband is a Republican;he is going to vote for Sen. Obama. But I can tell you he would not vote for Sen. Clinton. The Republicans wanted Sen. Clinton because she would help rally the base for McCain. Honestly, her candidacy would have energized Republicans (dispirited including my husband), and I think she would have lost. We have a real chance of electing Sen Obama and he has coattails down the ballot.

101. poor little deluded fool
unlike that lying self-absorbed corporate ass-kisser you worship (the one with 56% disapproval even before she started the Rove-clone bullshit), the repukes will not pour out of the woodwork to vote against Obama (in fact, a great many truly like Obama and will vote for him in a heartbeat, not to mention that the entire country is genuinely fed up with the neocons, so McCain has a giant handicap to overcome and is a very very weak candidate) and the only Dems who will vote against him (or sit it out) will be the Hillary "supporters" who looooove the status quo and cling bitterly to their delusion that they can replay the glorious 90s, when bill swept all the bad stuff under the rug and made the world safe for corporate mega-plunder.

47. That isn't necessarily a contradiction
Two weeks would give the Clinton campaign time to negotiate Obama taking on her debt, and seating Florida, along with a few other details. Also, it would give her time to go out on a winning note. She will drop in two weeks, if she doesn't drop out before then.

82. After how divisive this campaign has been, I don't think Obama would entertain her as a VP choice.
Obama would be better off with someone like Wesley Clark.

98. Not TOO big of a deal
since she doesn't need to campaign hard to win KY and WV. So in terms of the pledged delgate math this decision won't be too hurtful for her. It might hurt her with the superdelegates and the media pundits though.

99. She has NO HOPE of catching up in delegate math.
And the superdelegates won't back her; she's lost. She has no viable path to the nomination now. It doesn't really matter if she wins KY and WV or not. It's over.

100. Depends on what her end game is
We all assume that it's to win the nomination, but what if it's to force a stalemate to try to get herself 2nd place on the ticket? If I was her campaign strategist, I would change her campaign's approach based on whether or not she wants the V.P. position. If she wants it, then have her continue full speed ahead into the remaining primaries and caucuses and try to force a decision on FL and MI.

105. Assuming FL and MI are given to Clinton as is, she would
still be behind in all metrics that count...

States won, popular vote, and most importantly, pledged delegates...

Her only legitimate argument at this point would be to somehow convince the SDs to take the nomination away from the more popular candidate using some racial electability argument. But what she fails to understand is that she is a woman applying for what has been a man's job up to this point. So the electability argument is moot as she is just as unelectable as Obama. National polls have been taken on this before. Of those polled, , 72 percent said they were ready for a black president vs 71 percent for a woman.

Game, set, match.

107. She got two easy wins coming up. She can get out after those.
Right now she'll be negotiating for VP and money, trying to get Obama to take on her debt and put her on the ticket. She's got some time, with the two easy wins coming up in the near term.

He won't put her on the ticket, but he might help her pay some debts. Or, he might promise to help her retire her debt, depending on whether she helps in the campaign or sits on her ass.
