Obama supporters - please do not gloat or carry on a Hillary campaign "death watch"
Not only is it premature, it is also unseemly, cruel and just plain tacky.

Yes, it does not look good for her prospects. But there is no reason to twist the knife or expect her to drop out of the race tonight - or tomorrow or Thursday.

This woman has worked her ass off for a year and a half (and longer) and it is very possible that the goal she has focused on may have moved out of her reach in the last couple of hours. This must be very painful, frustrating and disheartening for her and her supporters. Whatever you think about Hillary and her campaign, she and her supporters truly believe that she is a better candidate than Obama and would make a better president than he or McCain ever would.

So, please - don't be petty. If she believes that she doesn't have a chance, she will come to that on her own and in her own good time. In the meantime, there is no need to pile on or demand that she do something on your time schedule.

We're Democrats. We're supposed to be the good guys. We're supposed to be good, decent people who don't take pleasure in other people's pain. Let's start behaving that way.

My two cents.

2. Really? Because at this point it's unseemly and cruel to the Party
for her to continue down this path.

I'm all for working with HRC supporters to come together, but she has got to go - NOW.

Obama isn't demanding her immediate withdrawal - why are you?

Again, I point out - Obama is not calling for her withdrawal. Why don't his supporters follow his lead?

14. It is better for Hillary to stay in the race until AFTER
West Virginia and Kentucky, which she will probably win whether she drops out or not.

If Hillary were to win those races AFTER she had dropped out, the losses would look much worse for Obama than if she continues campaigning in those states. (I understand that Clinton is already on the ballot in those states.)

22. I agree with your sentiment,
but I still think we need to try our best to be the bigger people in this. That's one of the things I like about Senator Obama. He has risen above the base politics that Senator Clinton plays and has made what I believe are genuine peace offerings to those who disagree with him. Even if he lost the opportunity to score points in the short run, I think that strategy has paid off for him in the long run. It's a good example for us to follow.

51. Continued contest = continued voter excitment = continued registration
There is no measure by which Hillary can win the nomination. I expect her to stay in the race, but to acknowledge Obama is the presumptive nominee. She has to do her part in mending fences, too. But so too must Obama supporters stop treating her like the devil. We will need to present a united front against McCain.

4. Agree--it's best for Obama for his supporters to be as
conciliatory as Obama was in his North Carolina victory speech tonight.

Obama was doing what I have advised all along; he's reaching out to Hillary supporters and making McCain the focus on his attention.

Obama will be our nominee. It's time to bring in the Hillary supporters with carrots, not sticks, so we can win the general election.

If we do that, I give you....President Obama!

6. If we don't make a scene, she will
all the way to Denver. It was over weeks ago, most certainly when she actually lost Texas. She keeps going because we won't scream at the media and make them tell the truth about her loss. You keep playing nice, and we'll still have this mess in August. She lost. She needs to go.

Maybe you should simply mirror the OP's class, and show a little of your own, rather than being insulting in a thread about unity?

24. When you get upset, just listen to Obama's North Carolina
speech again.

If Obama's supporters don't take his lead in how to treat Hillary supporters, Obama loses the general election. It's that simple.

So, it's better to keep tempers in check and save our anger for the only competitor who matters, and that's McCain.

27. It takes two to fight
The best way to get Hillary out of the picture is to ignore her.

If Obama supporters do what Obama did tonight and take the fight to McCain, air is sucked out of Hillary's campaign.

By the way, I think Hillary would be a very good President. It's just that Obama has shown that he is the better candidate.

And confirms that she no longer intends to mount an offensive to divide the convention.

And stops teaming up with the Scaifes and Limbaughs of the world.

At that point, I'm sure everyone will welcome a new tone from both sides. But until that happene, she deserves what she gets.

But if she doesn't give a damn about the party and continues to scheme and plot a method to steal the nomination from Senator Obama, then as far as I'm concerned she deserves everything that she gets from her detractors.

You have a problem with some Obama supporters, so you move into positive Obama supporter threads and attack Obama supporters.
