We need to find a way to allow Clinton to climb down with dignity.
One thing I really admire about Obama is his empathy. Even when he disagrees with people, he seems to try to understand where they're coming from and what they feel. This quality is what (I think) is needed in the next president, if we're to get past the bitter politics of the present.

It applies to Republicans, but it also applies to Hillary Clinton. I thought Obama's speech tonight -- with its classy and gracious (and possibly premature) acknowledgment of Clinton's victory in Indiana -- was a good start. I was a bit less impressed with Clinton's speech ("On to the White House!"), but I think she was trying to find some common ground too.

I wonder if we can find some way to calm down for the next two weeks. Obama is going to seal the deal on May 20 in Oregon. Everybody in the reality-based community must realize that. But Clinton is still going to rack up big wins in West Virginia and Kentucky. That's to her credit, it should be acknowledged, and might help her and her supporters accept defeat gracefully. It might help also if we (Obama supporters) can at the same time tone done the level of vituperation in advance.

May 20 is the day we have to start to come together.

1. No we don't. It's time to strip her of any remaining dignity.
Let the slime flow forth.

Dignity went out of the door a long time ago. I honestly think that Hillary is very serious about bringing this nomination race to the floor of the Convention and trying to maneuver the Florida and Michigan delegates to be seated (with the results as they are).

The old media narrative is going to be Rev. Wright. The new media narrative is going to be the "disenfranchisement" of Florida and Michigan voters, and you already know which side the media is on on this issue.

8. Up to her... not us... and if this was Obama it would be up to him
this is not for the voters to do.

But her war room and her very close advisors.

And for the sake of the future I hope they find that way SOON

13. We *HAVE* to let her exit this gracefully somehow
I completely agree with your analysis, and I agree that we have to find a way to let her out of this with dignity.

I don't think we need to offer her the VP slot or anythign nutty like that, but we do need to acknowledge what a force in politics she is, and let her go off as a fighter, ready to help us against McCain, and a HUGE majority come January 2009.

It's gonna be one helluva country come January 20, 2009!

16. Dart gun and tranquilizers, crated and dragged off by a tractor.
She had the option of dignity earlier and refused it. Now the SDs gotta step in...
