Clinton: Tuesday Will Be a 'Game Changer'
May 02, 2008

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Senator Hillary Clinton speaking in Kinston, NC said that Tuesday's primary will be a big day in the contest for the Democratic nomination. Clinton has denied in interviews and in press availabilities that she will drop out of the race if she loses Indiana. Today, Clinton stressed the importance of the North Carolina contest.

“This primary election on Tuesday is a game changer. This is going to make a huge difference in what happens going forward. The entire country – probably even a lot of the world is looking to see what North Carolina decides.”

1. Axlerod has been saying the "game changer" to CNN & MSNBC already
I think the Obama campaign is getting tired of running "tight races" just to help Hillary soothe her ego.

Maybe the gloves are going to begin coming off more often (if she stays in after this)?

2. Lowering expectations
How is a state he was expected to win a "game changer"?

He still can't carry any big, battleground states in the GE. As much as Obama supporters enjoy him winning a state he was expected to win, the goal is to win the GE.

7. he's winning and he will in the fall because no one wants the pugs
anymore. and the hillary camp is the game changer camp. why would he say this when his game wins. And the big state, little state rational is, was and always will be crap. NC is huge and so is Oregon and Montana and all the rest he will win. Also, winning the SD game trumps all.

11. Keep dreaming
He's the GOP's ideal candidate, they've been very open about their hope to run against him.

He will be roundly defeated. He has no base outside of AA and young voters. The white male voters will defect to McCain as they always do. GOP is the master at controlling that base.

5. what's changed? 90% of black voters vote for obama, last month same thing...
and they are 40% of dems in the state. nothing's changed from all the similar southern states.

8. 54% of his votes were White
and the numbers in Indiana show that he has been steadily improving his numbers from Ohio to Pennsylvania and now to Indiana tonight.

10. okay, then that's impressive. b/c any normal lead in any other group...
plus that one would still equal a huge win. fair enough.

15. But...
Just because the "white voters" voted for Hillary in the primary does not necessarily mean that they would all vote against Obama in the general? I do not follow that logic? Perhaps they voted for Hillary because they thought she was the best candidate - not just racial reasons??
