I) Words Matter. Numbers Matter. Having just lived through 8 years of denial its time to show that the Democratic Party is not wishy washy but lives by clear analysis of facts and here are the facts:

II) We also know that of the remaing super delegates 27 add on Super Delegates that those that come from the following states Obama won decisively he will carry all of these add on delegates:

Colorado 1 5/17/2008
Kansas 1 5/17/2008
Alaska 1 5/23/2008
Georgia 2 5/24/2008
Wyoming 1 5/24/2008
Hawaii 1 5/25/2008
Mississippi 1 5/31/2008
Maine 1 6/1/2008
Minnesota 2 6/7/2008
Vermont 1 6/7/2008
Montana 1 6/8/2008
Wisconsin 2 6/13/2008
Idaho 1 6/14/2008
Iowa 1 6/14/2008
Virginia 2 6/14/2008
Washington 2 6/15/2008
North Carolina 2 6/21/2008
Oregon 1 6/21/2008
South Dakota 1 6/21/2008

We also know that he will get these 7 super delegates when he gets the majority of pledged delegates on May 20th.

Sen. Maria Cantwell (WA) - most pledged delegates, most states won

Uncommitted:
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (CA) (added 3/30)
Christine Pelosi (CA) (added 3/30)
Gov. Roy Romer (CO) (added 3/30)
Former President Jimmy Carter (GA) (added 5/1)
Betty Richie (TX) (added 3/30)
Denise Johnson (TX) (added 4/6)


III) When we add these "Highly Likely Obama Supporters" and "Highly Likely Clinton Supporters" it means that of the remaining 214 super delegates Hillary has to win 87.9%
Obama needs only 26 super delegates or only 12.1%.


IV) Given the trends since Super Tuesday below we find that a Clinton victory is no longer mathematically possible and that an Obama victory is mathematically certain.





V) Therefore the members of DU who have added their names below believe that we now have a MATHEMATICAL PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. That while it will take the rest of the world to catch up with reality we don't think that the pretense that there is any rational chance that Senator Obama will not be our nominee should be maintained here.

It's time to have a "Gentleman's race" like Huckabee and McCain engaged in. The only way Hillary can win the nomination now is if Obama unexpectedly withdraws from the running, which seems pretty unlikely. Now that the contention is out of the way, it's time for our candidates to emphasize the points on which they AGREE. The truth of the matter is, there's no longer even a reason for FL and MI not to be seated. Hillary, sadly, can't win even with them added to her totals. And excluding them would be disasterous in November.

The time has come for us to focus on putting the party back together again. If Obama can draw Clinton supporters behind himself as well as keep his independents and his youth, we will bulldoze McCain in November. If Hillary and her supporters continue to be treated like enemies, that may not be possible.

Well, the consolation of dragging this on beyond the point of necessity is that Obama gets to travel in full earnest to all of the states and all states will have a chance to get to know him personally. It's not all bad, but it's getting to be a little embarrassing to see Senator Clinton claiming victory. I swear, though, I don't see any of these numbers in the headlines. As far as I can tell from going through Google News and looking at articles, the race is tight, both in popular vote and in delegates. And the fact that Obama hasn't decisively won is somehow a negative on him and not her. Setting aside hostilities for a moment, having such a close race isn't such a bad thing, considering how much more voice the people are getting this time around.

I see what your saying and agree with some things you said gtar100, but this one sorta squeaked out:

I think that statement cuts two ways, and cancels out any valid argument that HRC campaign could try to make. Hillary should actually be the one who closed this out a long time ago. She was favored.

She is lacking support and money because most Democratic voters do not want, and should not want, to back anyone, not even the Clinton's for POTUS- because they are corporate funded, run a corporate backed campaign, and will run a corporate White House. We have to address corporate corruption, and clean up our own party.

The Clinton's are eerily similar to what we have right now and have had for the last 10-20 years.

Penn/Colombia was a bad blow for her intra-party connections, and showed us just how two-faced and corrupt politics can be. The Clinton trademark is very much tied down by too many political negatives. Barack is not perfect, but the scales are certainly tipped in favor of his credibility.

The most important thing is that Democratic party is finally trending away from supporting corporate owned policies and politicians. That is a good thing. That is the only way we will make progress for our nation, not just our party. Ultimately, we want our elected officials to do their job honestly.

Those voters that are pouring money into the Dem. party and into our causes are no doubt, coming from Obama supporters. He is pulling in the dough we need to send McBush on vacation for the next 3 years, and to set up a chance for a majority down ticket to help our President/House/Senate do the people's work in 2009-2013.

Barack's platform is straight up being directly funded by his supporters. That is un-heard-of for a Presidential Candidate. After this one, hopefully our future Democratic POTUS nominees will be even better and bring us more progress! Thanks for you input gtar100. Go Dems! :applause:

Here in GMT, I stayed up WAY past a decent hour watching results come in - what an exciting night it was! It was amazing to me to see the Clinton supporting talking heads try to spin this - they kept ignoring the delegate count and one kept repeating that Obama had said once that he would win Indiana. The question that I was yelling at the TV that no one would ask was, "So f-ing what?!?" Does that make the results somehow different? He won the night and the nomination, and some people want to continue to move the goalposts. This shit used to be funny. It is still a joke, but becoming pitiful. Hillary needs to quit trying to find a way to cheat herself to the nomination and follow the rules, look at the numbers, and DROP OUT.

PS Obama's acceptance speech last night was EXCELLENT. ;)
