Question: Why is MSNBC reporting IN results before all IN polls have closed?
I thought the policy was to wait until all polls closed in a state before reporting numbers.

4. Polls are closed in the eastern part of the state
Polls close at 6 in Indiana in the respective time zone. So the polls in the part of the state that's in Eastern Standard Time are closed. The networks will not call the state before all polls are closed, but they will start reporting results as they come in.

5. And Those Still Having To Vote In Indiana Will See These Early Results And......
because they like to say that they voted for the winner - will vote for whomever is ahead when they look at the MSM results. They can sway the vote if they report on one or the other candidates strong counties first.

7. I doubt that
the polls close in under 15 minutes. Anyone waiting this late to vote probably isn't pouring over the results on CNN.

10. If the state is releasing the information
Why shouldn't the media report it?

11. They should not be reporting #s with polls still open.

I posted this on another thread, but people in the urban areas could tune in, see these inaccurate numbers, and be discouraged from voting.

This is wholly irresponsible. There should be a law against reporting returns before all polls have closed.
