I have said it before: Put Hillary on the ticket
As much as Obama supporters resent her right now, I think it's the right call.

Hillary DOES connect with some voters that Obama does not connect with. She could help him reach a lot of people who'd tune out an Obama/Somebody-Else-You've-Sort-of-Heard-Of ticket.

Yes, Hillary has done and said some bad things. But get over it.

Ronald Reagan didn't take on George HW Bush (aka "Mr. Voodoo Economics") because he loved him. JFK probably never trusted LBJ all that much. But this is not about who likes whom or who said what. It's about saving the country from going in the wrong direction. And THAT starts with winning the election -- and winning it big.

Obama/Clinton '08! ALL THE WAY!

I mean, is this really all that hard to understand? If she cannot defeat Obama, with all the crap she has flung at him, what good would she be against McCain?
all her supposed "positives" are trumped by mccain directly, he's a better warhawk republican than she could ever dream of being.

but I guess I do get it: this is the next stage of grief: bargaining.

Gore and Kerry were naive to me. They were unprepared for the attacks and counter attacks. We need to WIN! I don't care how. If Hillary and Obama are on the same ticket and HATE each other - I don't care! I don't want any more neocons in the White House!

14. Hillary and Barack both have negatives.
He is black. What a shocker, but some will not vote for him for that reason alone.

She is female. Another shocker, but some will not vote for her for that reason alone.

Yes, it's time to break the white male strangle hold on the Presidency, I'm just not sure right now is the time to do it. After 8 years of Bush abuse, our country needs real leadership, real change, and an abrupt departure from the way business has been done in Washington.

And to have two candidates with so many obvious negatives (not just race or gender) running seems like a really stupid idea to me.

Thanks to all the "let's make history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (no matter what we lose in the process) folks." When McCain moves into the White House, we'll know who's responsible. :(

Al Gore, 2000
John Kerry, 2004
Barack Obama, 2008

NO WAY these people have any place in American Presidential politics......what part of EIGHT YEARS MAXIMUM for holding office as President do you NOT understand, and what part of "legal gymnastics" of substituting a wife for Bill Clinton, do you NOT get?

This is purely a Clinton ego trip, a trip into nostalgia land of the nineties! Reality, who needs "reality" when we have a fantasy gas tax break? Pure Clinton smoke and mirrors.

That's just the way it is. He needs to find someone that is viewed as a whole lot more trustworthy than she is.

66. If she "forces" Obama's chioce to be her, that will be a DRAG on the ticket!
... and as you note, JFK having LBJ on the ticket was not something that was a good matchup. And I would argue that perhaps as some of those "conspiracy theorists" out there postulate, LBJ or those supporting him might have had something to do with JFK's assassination.

In some ways, I think if you have an Obama/Hillary ticket, the assassination threat to Obama would even be WORSE than it was for JFK. You'd have the following variables that would provide incentive for this happening:

1) All of the white racists out there would probably much rather have Hillary in charge than Obama.
2) All of those corporatist DLC types out there would probably much rather have Hillary in charge than Obama.
3) #1 gives a conspiracy by those in #2 to blame an assassination on if they carry out this conspiracy (which they likely did back in the 60's against JFK, Bobbie Kennedy, and MLK).
4) The corporatists might also like that if it were done early enough in either the campaign or after the election, it would give Bush room to declare martial law and cancel the elections as well and carry out Paul Craig Roberts' fears.

You in effect have the opposite what you have now with Bush/Cheney (disincentive to off Bush when most people know that Cheney would probably be infinitely worse in chage).

In short, the answer IS F NO! We don't need Hillary on the ticket and should NOT have her on the ticket!

...there must be 20 posts a day, at least, begging to put that THING on an Obama ticket.

You're not persuading people, and making those who have already decided not to vote for Hillary under any circumstances to dig in their heals.

72. It was stupid then, and it's stupid now. Bigots and republicans won't vote for him no matter what...
.... The rest will. So the only question is: How much of Clinton's support is republicans and bigots?

If the answer is "not much", then there's nothing to worry about.

If the answer is "a lot", then Clinton has more issues than Obama.

73. Wow. After reading the subject lines in this thread
(not the posts, my blood pressure couldn't stand it)

all I can say is, it's a good thing that Obama won't need Clinton supporters in the general!

Oh, wait...

(Note, I'm not talking about him offering Clinton the VP spot. I don't think he should, and if he does, I don't think she should take it. But. Still. Reading these subject lines makes ME mad, and I'm somebody who actually leans toward Obama.)

87. No. Obama's central theme is: "Turn the page."
He offers voters a fresh start, a break with the past, a new politics. Having Clinton on the ticket would undermine all that. At this point she pretty much personifies "old politics."

96. No. It would hurt our ticket.
Obama is change, she is not. He didn't take pac or federal lobbyist money, she did. He voted against the Iraq war she voted for it. It goes on and on.

She has high negatives and would bring that to our ticket. She would also unite the currently divided and demoralized GOP base and bring out every one of them to not only vote against us, but to vote against her.

And she hasn't just said 'bad things'. She completely crossed the line, repeatedly. She's tried to and is hurting our party, party unity, and our chances in the fall.

98. Not in a million years - 2 senators on the same ticket?
Everybody knows that McCain would just choose Romney or Huckabee and laugh at the lack of executive experience on the Democratic Party ticket. Also, people seem to forget that the Vice President's main job is to help the President govern. Do you think that Obama will decide that Hillary is the best person to help him govern? Why force yourself to have Slick Willie following you around all of the time? Finally, I'm not even sure that Hillary will accept a V.P. now.
