When will the IWR be repealed?

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was in effect between August 7th 1964 and January 14th 1971.

By my calculation that is a timespan of some six years, five months and seven days.



The IWR was signed into law October 16th 2002. That means it will outlive the Tonkin Resolution come March 23rd 2009. Bush theoretically leaves office in January so will any of the three potential Presidents act within this short window of time?


Mrs. Clinton last year claimed that a repeal measure would be introduced co-sponsored by Senator Byrd by the fifth anniversary of the vote. Since we control both Houses of Congress, can someone please explain the nature of the constipation?

1. why Mrs. Clinton, and Sen. Byrd? you do know, do you not, that they are BOTH senators.

Are you requesting that I change the post? I really don't see the point since only a serving member of the Senate could co-sponsor another piece of legislation, that seems to imply she is a Senator does it not?

I could have also said:

Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Byrd

Clinton, Byrd

or (the solution that involves the most letters)

Senator Clinton and Senator Byrd.

3. what you did, in case this needs to be pointed out to you, is sexist.

you used the proper title for Sen. Byrd, but did not extend the same honor to Sen. Clinton. whether consciously meant or not, it is insulting. use the same form for both, whichever form you use.
