Obama: Economy is in serious trouble -Indianapolis Star
Press from Indianapolis Rally today:

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080503/NEWS0502/80503002

'"Our economy is in serious trouble," Obama said. "You can feel it in your own lives and see it in your own communities. I hear it everywhere I go."

"We don't have to sit here and watch our leaders do nothing," he said to a cheer and standing ovation from the crowd. "That's why I'm running for president today. ... I'm running because we can't settle for a Washington where John McCain (the Republican senator who has locked up the GOP nomination) gets the chance to give us four more years of the same Bush policies. ... It hasn't worked in the past and it won't work for our future."

The nation, he said, can't afford a Washington where health care, energy and tax policies are "sold to the highest-paid lobbyist."

Clinton, he said, says those lobbyists represent real Americans. "You and I know who they really represent," he said to cheers.'

LOL- he won over a Huckabee supporter! :)... 'Among those cheering the crowd was Mark Kolovrat, a 52-year-old former Republican precinct committeeman. Kolovrat said he had supported former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican seeking the GOP nomination. After Huckabee dropped out, he said, he began looking for another candidate. Somewhat to his surprise, he found Obama.

"I kept listening to Barack Obama. I just got liking him more and more, so here I am," he said.'

2. K & R
I've gotten my hopes up for a lot of candidates, and frequently getting those hopes dashed. Obama is worth getting those hopes up again. :kick:

3. No shit Sherlock
What's your next clue.

But, hey Barack, thanks for voting for Dick Cheney's Energy Plan.

It's helping our economy a ton.

I think of your vote every time I pump gas.
