It won't just happen with a snap of the fingers..and we know Bush would veto it anyway..

She would be the one to introduce the bill...it would be "fighting" against Mccain's Gas-pander bill, and IF it, or his passed, it would then have to go to the house..and then to Bush..and just when would she find time to campaign?? and of course the convention's in July...and the congress is off for all of August....and by then summer's over anyway..

If I were running, I would at least promise all the people a new car..If you're gonna promise something you cannot deliver, why not make it a biggie??

or promise to pay off their mortgage?? ...

Why think "small"..18.4 cents ? She must think Hoosiers are really dumb..to sell their votes for 18.4 cents :)

4. There is no plan for this
Its a bullshit cover for McCain Labor Day when Gas cost 5.00 a gallon in September and he can say I was for reducing the cost.

Hillary took a bite at the apple because of all Obama's ads focusing on the price of Gas.

5. Don't forget conference committee
It would go to the House, and the whole process would start over again. In committee, then to the full floor, then to conference committee, then back to the Senate, then back to the House and then to Bush.

9. They're running on the promise of the thing.
The primaries will be over before most people realize its a scam and Clinton / McCain will already have gotten what they could out of it.

10. There's no way it would happen until McClinton or McCain is president
And even then it has no chance in passing through the Congress. McClinton is crazy if she thinks a windfall profits tax will be passed in this day and age, and if it did the companies would just pass the bill onto us anyway with even higher prices. The pandering is very obvious.

11. Windfall profits taxes are extremely hard to pass because
people define "windfall" differently...and it almost requires a ceiling for profits..

a better way to approach the "gasoline crisis" would be to build several REGIONAL refineries...owned by the governmenr..i.e. US.. the people.. and to have those refineries operate as non-profits..
