As this primary season moves on I am becoming numb.
The constant barrage of empty, non issues used to bash Obama have caused me to slowly come to the realization that we as a party are becoming indiscernable from our opposition. Sure there is the occasional policy issue where we differ but the way that we have taken like ducks to water when it comes to playing the same brand of idiot politics that they have mastered is discouraging.
The reason I am a Democrat is that I value REASON, I value citizenship, and I value the pursuit of a higher ideal and purpose for myself and my country.
But that is dying in front of my very eyes for not only have I witnessed a campaign that was purposefully driven into the very muck that the Republicans so gleefully wallow in now I get to see my party try to hand out the equivalent of Mardi Gras beads to an all to willing public in exchange for a vote.
This "gas tax holiday" is just as shallow and shortsighted as Bush's tax rebates, yet even less filling. Those 300 dollar kickbacks served as nothing more than a tax payer funded election year payola scheme at a time when our nation could afford it the least.
But it worked. Seems that there isn't a shortage of very stupid and shortsighted people in this country who snapped up their 300 buck and thought Bush was a great guy for finally giving instead of taking.
Now Hillary has used this same bait and switch principle to apparently get an edge in the upcoming primaries. This 30 dollar trinket (wich by the way will never ever actually be implemented) is enough to dupe our idiotocracy into thinking that they are gonna get something for nothing.
It's a scam worthy of the Republican seal of approval as Mcain also endorses this never gonna happen fantasy of an extra 30 bucks.
I predict now that Hillary will win in NC largely because of this sly charade, because people in general, even apparently Democrats are easily swyed by a little bit of silver, even if they aren't smart enough to realize they will never actually get it.
I never knew buying votes could be done so cheaply.
