Forget Kitchen Sinks, Obama Needs to throw the Bathtub
Senator Clinton was civil until she started losing. Obama is answering her, charge by charge. This is not going to be enough. The Clintons have a veritable Kitchen Sink Factory to create weapons to hurl at their opponents. But Hillary’s own tub is full of dirty bathwater. Maybe it’s time for Obama to throw the bathtub at her.

If he doesn’t start doing this, now, he risks being Willie Horton’d to death and suffering the same fate as Dukakis. Regardless of the March 4 results, this campaign is not over. Regardless of what the pundits say, this campaign is not over. Regardless of what the Party honchos say, regardless of what the delegate count says, this race is not over.

When the Clintons are involved, it is never over. They are the Jason’s of “Nightmare on Pennsylvania Avenue.” No matter how many times they are taken down, they keep getting up. They defy all odds. They will win at any cost.

That last statement bears repeating. The Clintons will win at any cost. If Obama does not realize this, he is indeed naive, as Hillary says he is, and he deserves to lose.

There are many bathtubs he could throw at her, though some might not be fair. The Clinton Co-Presidency that Hillary proudly trumpets on her resume of “experience” is replete with questionable financial deals, missing White House furniture, misplaced classified files, finger-wagging televised lies, rumors of emotional explosiveness and unpredictability, drug-running airstrips in Mena, allegations of perjury and obstruction of justice, and a truly impressive collection of conveniently morphed positions on hot political issues.

Then there is the “association with shady characters” card, along with embarrassing endorsements, from which the Clintons are currently scoring bogus political points. Almost every person in America over the age of 40 has at some time or another rubbed shoulders with and made deals with someone who turned out to be a shady character. We all have associates who have morals and opinions we disagree with. None of us have much control over which scoundrels like or “endorse” us. It is seldom fair to make an issue of this.

But Hillary has. That’s fine. But it opens her up to the same low standards of fairness she is using to attack Obama. That is a sneaky little game she cannot win, unless Obama lets her. In their righteously indignant accusations of “shady connections,” the Clintons have slightly more credibility than a knee-capper moonlighting for the mafia.

Actually, Senator Obama does not have to stoop to the level of being unfair, unethical, or dishonest. There are a host of legitimate questions that could keep Senator Clinton busy from now until election day. But Obama has to ASK them, preferably at the same time as, or before, he is fending off her kitchen sinks.

Strictly reactive campaigns never win, in war or politics.

(After the miserably inept Dukakis, Gore, Kerry campaigns we should have learned that painful lesson by now).

Don’t just dodge the sinks, Barack. Hillary has made it legitimate for you to throw the bathtub.

Some more ideas:

* Bill Clinton invited Reverend Wright to the White House to pray for him
* Hillary called herself 'Senator Punjab' when she was in India to promote outsourcing
* The Clinton $109 million dollar fortune
* Bill's lobbying to expand NAFTA to Columbia for which he was paid millions
* Bill Clinton's interview on Rush Limbaugh show
* Ecetera, ecetera.

These are all fair, legitimate issues to raise! Issues the GOP are dying to use against Hillary in the GE. Obama better do something to stop the damage the kitchen sink is causing to his campaign or else it will cripple him in the GE, if not stop him dead in his tracks.

For some reason, perhaps because it was on the news 24/7 for a decade, most people know that Bill has a wayward pecker. The only people still interested are freepers and Obamaphiles.

That would in normal circumstances require some 'splaining. For instance, what about the year before that?

Everything but the kitchen sink: Clinton steps up attacks on Obama

After struggling for months to dent Sen. Barack Obama's candidacy, the campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is unleashing what one Clinton aide called a "kitchen sink" fusillade against Obama, pursuing multiple lines of attack since Saturday in hopes of stopping his political momentum.

5. Wrong.
There are too many to list, but here's a few.

* Hillary campaign circulated a photo of Obama dressed in traditional garb of his father's country, implying he was a Muslim. When asked if she thought if Obama was a Muslim, Hillary replied, 'not as far as I know.'

* Went on television, viciously attacked Obama for a flyer.

* Told her supporters a black man could never be president.

* Questioned Obama's patriotism for not wearing a flagpin, when she herself doesn't wear one

* Tried to link him to 60s radicals

* Raised a stink about bitter comments, a petty non-issue.

16. 1. Drug use rumors stated on national tv by Mark Penn.
2. Bill Clinton stating there were two candidates who loved America (Hillary and McCain).

3. Lies about Obama'a stance on NAFTA.

4. Lies about Obama's stance on the Iraq war ("I criticized the Iraq war before Obama").

5. Innuendo that Obama might be Muslim.

6. Making Rev. Wright an issue (angry black man!)

7. Elevating John McCain over Obama by saying Obama only had "one speech" for foreign policy experience.

You are stupid or blind if you can't see the C;linton smear tactics. There is a reason the Clinton campaign dubbed it the "kitchen sink" strategy.

34. There's no reason why Obama can't do both
These are not manufactured smears but legitimate issues, they speak to the opponent's ability or inability to lead the country. For example, how can Hillary be expected to run the country when she can't even manage her own campaign finances?

That is a huge question.

The Obama campaign is completely inept and incompetent if they fail to use this as a major issue against Hillary. If Obama had mismanaged and bankrupted his campaign, you can bet your ass Hillary and McCain would never let us hear the end of it.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for saying this but... this one isn't the bathtub, it's the soaking jacuzzi tub.

We'd be celebrating the end of the successful Gore Presidency if Bill Clinton had kept it in his pants!

Seriously. Yes, the Vast RW Conspiracy was out to slime the Clintons, and was doing a good job of it. But Bill gave them rope to hang him with when he started playing hide-the-cigar with Monica. People were so tired of the Clintons that they voted for *, simply because he wasn't associated with the Clinton administration. And Hillary got smeared with it to for not divorcing him once they left office.

And now she's cozying up with the same RW Conspiracy people that accused her and Bill of murdering Vince Foster, among other things.

Hillary still doesn't have an argument that justifies overturning Obama's pledged delegate lead. Her negative scorched earth campaign is not impressing party leaders. The sentiments are pretty clear that they find the Hillary campaign to be abysmal and not worthy of DNC endorsement much less making her the nominee. He is going to win and his powder will remain dry for McCain.
