Question about the NBC/WSJ polling
I just saw the lastest poll yesterday....They ask a generic question "who will you vote for in the fall, the Democrat or the Republican"?.....Overwelmingly, Democrats were favored 51-33%...Now, when you do the head-to-head matchups, it's much closer as Clinton & Obama only have small leads over McBush...But see, what I don't get it if people favor the Democrat so strongly in the generic question, why does it get so much closer in the head to head contests....I mean, there are only 2 fucking possibilities, it's either Clinton vs. McBush, or Obama vs. McBush....I can see the big difference in the generic vs. the head to head matchups when there were 20 candiates, but for there to be such a difference now is very odd, :banghead: :banghead:

1. Because it's NOT a head-to-head matchup--it's a head-OR-head-to-head matchup

As long as there remains a choice of a Dem candidate, pitting any of them against the one GOP candidate is as inherently self-defeating as it is statistically invalid.

2. My guess is that those voters are thinking downticket. The Republicans
are acknowledging that their House and Senate (those that are up for reelection) members will lose massively this fall.

I also think that until we have just ONE candidate running, people are going to divide more easily. Once we have our candidate, lots of voters are going to see the value of a straight Dem ticket (they see the gridlock that happens when the WH is one party and the Congressional majority is another). At least that is what I am hoping for.
