Why 20 years in Rev. Wright's pews?
It seems pretty obvious that most people are loathe to "throw the baby out with the bath-water".

Wright's church was engaged in many acts of mercy, the breadth and depth of which are a phenomenon in their own right. Those are the things that brought Obama to that church in the fist place. So he was in a situation that many, many, many of us are in all of the time, "tuning down" someone who is wrong (partly because you can't change them anyway) in order to keep something else that is important to you, in this case, those service opportunities in his community.

BTW, HC did not listen to her own misgivings about the IWR, what was her reason?

3. So who/what are you? Somekind of Gatekeeper?
An enforcer? I can pretty much imagine how that might work.

This topic will not go away. It will always be there, overtly or covertly, so people will need to understand and deal with it . . . IF that's okay with you.

2. I posted this in another thread, but
Mike Barnacle was on Morning Joe this morning talking about Obama's upcoming interview with Tim on Meet the Press (he actually called him Timmy! I thought that was more a joke used by people here to make fun of him!)and said "He is going to be asked the TOUGH questions! Tim is going to find out EXACTLY HOW LONG HE STAYED IN THAT CHURCH FOR!" Good god. He makes Tim out to be a prosecutor! Haha. He also said that Tim has a great understanding of "the game and the theatrics involved in politics". Well, can't argue there. I hope that he gets asked tough questions that aren't limited to that.

4. Why the IWR, when everyone knew the War Powers Act was all that was necessary
It provided oversight for undeclared wars from the executive branch. The IWR removed that oversight

The Iraq war is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, higher energy and food prices, and more destabilization of the middle east

As for clinton's misgivings about the IWR, she showed her true colors by voting for the Kyle/liberman ammendment, and recently commenting that she would use nuclear weapons against Iran if they attacked Israel. Is she trying to show people how "macho" she is? That is NOT what makes up a good leader

5. Did you hear the report from her BuShitler's own counter-terrorism czar
running on NPR this morning. . . . probably won't make it into Corporate Media.

Why the IWR when the War Powers Act was enough to deal with the situation? . . . Yes on IWR = the dues to be part of a ROYAL group.

8. No unfortunately I didn't. I will try to locate it. I grew up during the Viet Nam
"exerience", and became extremely disillusioned when we not only went down that same path, but removed the checks and balances needed

6. I think Wright got his moment in the sun and has gone off the deep end
When people are in power, with the exception of the recent idiots in office and on the supreme court, they are apt to hold themselves in check to maintain that power. Wright has gotten some media attention and seems to have decided to let it snap - and he's willing to take out anyone in his path - including Obama.

11. now if we can convince the MSM of that
It bothers me that even though Obama as said that he doesn't agree with Wright on these positions that he is still being linked with him. But, McCain happily and proudly accepts the backing of the Catholic bashing minister and that's just fine.

14. Maybe you're right . . .
until someone corners you about it and you say "This doesn't matter. It's a distraction from the real issues." And then they reply something such as, "Who are you to tell me what matters and what doesn't to me. Those 20 years matter a great deal to me." and then you say __________________ . . .?

ARE you really thinking that you are going to stand there and tell them again that what matters to them DOESN'T matter to you?

The "third way" consists of showing people that some things that matter to them DO matter to you AND that you have a NEW perspective on that VALUE that you share with them.

BTW, have you seen the polls about who the voting public thinks shares their VALUES? What's your idea for HOW to address that? Tell them that their Values don't matter to you?

13. basically as someone explained, Obama needed a black background

joining the church is what gave it to him.

The guy is manufactured and completely made up. None of his life is basically true when you dig deep into it.
