Fear of a Black Phallus

Fear of a Black Phallus --Why didn't any media outlets dig up Ted Haggard's dirt during the 2000 and 2004 elections?
By Earl Crown

THE ONLY reason Fox News and their kind went trolling for dirt on Reverend Wright is because the candidate is black. If Barack Obama was Bob Smith and lily-white, the media would not care what his spiritual advisors had to say. George W. Bush had a "spiritual advisor" named Ted Haggard. Two years ago, it was discovered that the Reverend Haggard, a married man with children and a huge congregation, was smoking meth and having sex with a male prostitute. Haggard's meth and prostitute habit goes back YEARS, before the 2000 elections, and he was using church funds to finance his debauchery.

I wonder what kind of crazy, racist, lunatic shit Bush's current pastor says when they're golfing together.

So, why didn't any media outlets dig up Ted Haggard's dirt during the 2000 and 2004 elections? Because Dubya is white, and a mainstream Protestant. The only time a presidential candidate's religious beliefs are an issue is if the candidate is a person of color, or a Mormon, or Catholic, or a Muslim. But WASPs get a free pass.

...More at the source.

30. That's blatantly ignorant of the reason for his 'sudden fame'.
Did you actually read the OP?

Answer this; "Why isn't Rev. Hagee enjoying 'sudden fame' over his actual hate speech?"

35. You think he enjoyed..
being used as a whipping post 24/7 for 3 weeks straight? You think he enjoyed hearing the same selected excerpts being repeated over and over and over, with absolutely nothing else said about who he is as a human being? You think he enjoyed getting death threats? You think his Church enjoyed getting bomb threats?

6. Ted haggard wasn't Bush's pastor
This is getting old. You guys keep pretending that there's no difference between a politician being supported by a high-profile pastor and Obama's 20 year relationship with Wright. It's silly.

8. I would say a black man has to be better, Plus it gives a reason
one does not have to vote for him. Please do not jump on me as I am for Obama and also know that one does not have to do or think like ones Pastor. I would say that a black man in this country that has got this far is special and maybe better educated than the others. Hillary is there because of her name Clinton, just as Bush was.

9. more inanities...
from the Obama camp. The msm didn't drag up anything negative on Bush, because as all DU members know, they were pandering, aiding, and abetting putting this idiot in the White House. Seems Obama fans have forgotten the msm's treatment of Kerry(swiftboating) and Gore(I invented the internet), and opted once again to play the gift that keeps on giving, the race card. I have never seen a group more capable of speaking out of both sides of their collective mouths, than DU Obamites, with the exception of another group in 2000. Is there a limit on the extent they will use race to further thier goals? I doubt it. After all, if you want a building to continue standing, you don't kick the main supporting column down. Thanks.

12. I don't believe this. I think they attack him for something liberal they found.
They don't attack RW pastors because the media has a RW bias, not because they are white. You could argue that his race had something to do with it, but to say its the only reason is flat out inaccurate.

13. "Fear of a Black Phallus" would be a good topic for a special 2-hour-long panel
Edited on Thu May-01-08 07:07 AM by Old Crusoe
discussion on LARRY KING LIVE some night here real soon.

Panel members should probably include Dr. Bill Frist and/or Dr. Tom Coburn (for the all-important medical perspective, even if via videotape), Phyllis Schlafly, Camille Paglia, Toby Keith, Geraldine Ferraro, Orrin Hatch, and Nancy Grace.

Larry would provide the wisdom of overview, as only Larry can do, and the marketers over at FOX, those masters of freakshow, will be green with envy that they didn't think of it first.

I'm thinking at this point, Larry will have to run a week-long focus on the topic to accommodate all the worthy panelists.

29. As just such a WASP, I can attest to that.
Going into any practice, clinic, any interview or any job of any sort, I know that I am automatically vetted just by virtue of blondish hair and hazel eyes. I've breezed through any grant or investment proposals and won the instant respect of powerful white men with a combination of looks, charm, and the fact that airplanes and lost tankers start landing nearby if I take my shirt off.

The only thing that hurts me in the professional world is my imperfect credit score.

I can only imagine what it's like to be under suspicion because of the color of my skin. I think it's bullshit.

33. Why not?
Care to explain why McCain's getting a pass on Hagee?

You see, I've heard so many people say; "This is/isn't true/right!" without ever offering an explanation or backing up their opinion.

I've been left with no other conclusion than Hillary supporters have no basis in reality for their opinions.

I mean, jeez... just today;

Nothing here;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5768035&mesg_id=5768124
Or here;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5748700&mesg_id=5749218

I ask specific questions about how her supporters have drawn their conclusions... nothing.

No matter how many times I ask for a reason or explanation, the Clinton supporters have nothing. In some cases they just call me names and leave.

Now, are you going to join the long list of Clinton people that have no clue why they believe what they do, or can you answer the above questions?
