Hey.

No matter the D nominee.

We're going to win.

1. Now we just have to make sure that we don't
lose by winning. Whatever happens, a win is just the start of what we have to do.

11. On the contrary, its perhaps the wisest question one can think of...
As far as the who, well, given the context of this board, I'm assuming Democrats. However, my second question is the more important one. If the goal is to get Democrats elected just because they are the "team" you chose to support, then I feel contempt. If its because of the erroneous belief that they will forward liberal or leftist policies, then that's just sad.

56. The answers to your queries are as follows:
Edited on Tue May-06-08 12:59 PM by DaDooRonRon
1) It's the "team", of course. The OP made that quite clear. What value said "team" brings to the table is really of little consequence - the goal of the whole voting exercise is to make sure you WIN the game. No more, no less.

2) The concept of erroneous belief is pushed to the side, since we all know that WINNING matters most. The maddening part of the whole equation, however, is this little gem: when (not if) the Messiah fails to deliver on his/her liberal/leftist policies, the flock will not realize they've been duped; rather they will try ever harder to bring another song-and-dance man front and center, unbelievably thinking he/she will bring those leftist policies with them.

Nobody seems to understand that in order to be allowed to play the mainstream vote for me! game one has to assure the owners that nothing will change, no matter how good the carney spiel is.

Mainstream politics is the mother of all rackets - a willing and caged audience who will repeatedly hit themselves on the head in hopes that somebody someday will take away the hammer.

Somebody should tell them their anointed saviors all own hardware stores. :)

27. I have fundamentally changed my convictions in the last 10 weeks.
If the type of RW, gutter politics Hillary Clinton is willing to perpetuate succeeds and she is the nominee, I will be voting third party, rekindle my political aspirations, take the opportunity to run in my state legislature as soon as possible, and run against GOP and DEM candidates that cater to the corporation and NOT the individual citizen.

Although my presence here at DU is mostly as a lurker and, yes, occasional flame thrower - yes, I will cancel membership and quietly find a more compatible blog, blah, blah, blah.

But I literally got sick to my stomach watching three things yesterday:

1 Hillary's fake gas pump dialogue and prozac/botox smile
2 Hillary's pathetic pandering to the O'Reilly right wing fanatics (especially her comment, "I'll let the voters decide
3 Watching Newt Gingrich on Jon Stewart, who echoed HIllary's basic Wright message and threw his fat ass support to her campaign.

When a Democrat basically lays spread eagle and allows the RW machine to fuck the shit out of you for votes and political gain, you have been inseminated with the vile stench that I have been fighting against my 25 years of voting and volunteering.

I will not vote for Hillary - you can put me in that Kantian cubby-hole of party traitor, but as least I can sleep at night and wake up in the morning without a sore asshole.

Half of DUers will absolutely refuse to vote for the nominee no matter who it is. And inasmuch as DUers are most certainly a representative sample of all Democrats, we're screwn.
