Not another "This race is over" thread!!! Yup.... and guess what... IT MAY JUST BE!!!
Politico:

"Capitol Hill insiders say the battle for congressional superdelegates is over, and one Senate supporter of Barack Obama is hinting strongly that HE HAS PREVAILED over Hillary Rodham Clinton.

While more than 80 Democrats in the House and Senate have yet to state their preferences in the race for the Democratic nomination, sources said Tuesday that most of them have already made up their minds and have told the campaigns where they stand.

'The majority of superdelegates I’ve talked to are committed, but it is a matter of timing,' said Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.). 'They’re just preferring to make their decision public after the primaries are over. ... They would like someone else to act for them before they talk about it in the cold light of day.'"

from the Darkside now... Clinton Camp reaction

continued from Politico:

"'Considering the rough patch Sen. Obama is going through, it’s understandable that Sen. McCaskill would want to change the subject, but her observations don’t jibe with what automatic delegates are actually saying,' said. 'Most are concerned about Sen. Obama’s electability and are impressed by the fact that Sen. Clinton is winning the states that Democrats must carry if we are to be successful in November.'

Does anybody recognize this spin, misrepresentation and contrived terminology... rote talking points?

They have quit trying to woo SD's in Congress... the die is cast, and Obama has prevailed.

3. God I'll be glad when this thing is over.
I'm rather emotionally disinvested, I must confess, but I'll be happy to have a nominee. The level of conjecture and "framing" is just over the top, especially from a certain candidate's camp.

is "winning the states the Democrats must carry". hilary kicked herself outta the Democratic Party and went over to fascistville. She's eatin' fried mushrooms if she thinks she's gonna lie, steal, cheat, and pose her way into our nomination.

8. Saw this on Olbermann
Says the Obama campaign was let known and they're happy. How come they're waiting, maybe after Tuesday. It is over and Clinton now knows it.

9. Playing with the Delegate calculator...
http://www.slate.com/id/2185278/

I've discovered that as long as Obama keeps all of the upcoming races it within 20 points, it'll be over on the 20th. Between Guam to Oregon, if HRH HRC wins by a 60-40 margin in every race, Obama will still cross the 1618 threshold on the 20th.

And if she and Obama tie in NC, then Obama can afford to lose by 30 points in the races between now and the 20th and still cross the 1618 threshold on the 20th.

14. Chris Matthews, who like a broken clock is occasionally accurate,
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 09:49 PM by tblue37
said before the PA primary that the race is over, but admits that the MSM keeps deliberately misleading people into believing Hillary has a chance simply because they want a horse race:
Chris Matthew started off the Pennsylvania primary coverage with a bang tonight. Shortly after 6, seated by co-anchor Keith Olbermann, Matthews called the primary, and thus his coverage tonight, basically moot. "This contest is essentially over," he proclaims to Keith. "Barack Obama is going to win the most elected delegates."

He went on to say of the media, "Trying to keep this game going, we've created the delusion that somehow this race is still open."
Here is a link to the video and an article about it on huffingtonpost.com:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/22/chris-matthews-the-media_n_98086.html

BTW, Matthews also admitted once that the media are McCain's real constituency and that they prop him up becuase they like him so much.
