Listen the fuck up: We are not fucking fated to lose the fucking White House in Fucking November.
Whoever the dem nominee is, stands an excellent chance of winning. Of course the MSM is going to play up John Fuckin' McCain's chances. They want a horse race. Duh. Of course, he's doing relatively well NOW, while the dem candidates are slugging it out, but that will change. The repukes are queasy as hell about McCain, and not all on the same page. McCain has big temperment problems, ethical problems and he's incredibly uninterested and uninformed on the number 1 issue: The fucking catastrophic economy.

Yeah, fuckihng stupid dems are saying now that they'll vote for McCain if Hillary doesn't get it. Don't bet on that. This is in the heat of the battle. And next November when those people are having a hard time feeding their families, filling up their vehicles, and don't have a fucking clue how they'll pay for fuel to heat their homes, they'll be thinking long and hard before voting McCain. And don't give me that fucking they always vote against their economic interests. We haven't seen an economy this bad in decades, and certainly not during a presidential election year. And when it comes right down to it, Americans are sick to fucking death of the Iraq War. They want it over and they want our troops home.

Both our candidates are not the worst of crop. And no one fucking knows how those no longer in the race would really do. Polls a year out are about as fucking reliable as playing pin the tale on the fucking donkey.

Obama is the likely nominee, and he'll run as efficient and smart a campaign in the general as he is in the primary. And if hillary gets it, she'll have shown that she has what it takes to win.

We have a fucking excellent chance of winning in November.

End of fucking rant.

I fucking refuse to believe that the American people will opt for the 1,000 year old right wing Bush ass kissing Republican. I refuse to. We are in a recession right now, our economy going from bad to worse, gas prices are at the highest levels ever with no end in sight, we're still in Iraq.

McCain has firmly hitched his wagon to ol', worst President ever, George W. Bush. A man with a 30% approval rating. I fuckin' refuse to believe that the American people will opt for a 3rd Bush term. I refuse to believe that.

We do, right here, right now, have a superb chance of winning in November. Period.

Don't sweat it. The primary season's almost over.

The next two contests in Indiana and N. Carolina are going to Obama, and since Clinton had to blow all her cash in Pennsylvania, she's going to be quite hamstrung from now on.

It will not last much past May 20th - that's when Obama's likely to pick up that 1627th pledged delegate and have a mathematical pledged delegate majority. The superdelegates are going to flock to Obama when that happens, if they don't do so sooner.

By June, we will be turning our sights on McCain and focusing on an Obama victory in November.

50. Scarborough and Harold Ford nailed it last night
Emphasizing how beneficial the extended primary battle was for Democratic hopes in the fall.

Exactly. As long as this continues it's eyeballed as the main event, two legit heavyweights and the emerging victor -- Obama -- will receive surreal credit for defeating someone of that caliber. You can't buy something like that, not with $200 million or whatever Obama would be determined to blow in the interim months, while being slowly defined by the GOP. The registration benefits along the way are pure bonus.

Notice the Republicans are now paralyzed, no way to attack a tag team. And when you're vulnerable, as Obama is, the best scenario is a shortened cycle against the ultimate opponent, not a protracted one. Particularly when our side has the fundamental edge to begin with, as cali properly indicates.

Meanwhile, the blanketed folks who are scrambling to make a moment-to-moment point to their sheeple, like Rachel Maddow and today Maureen Dowd, naturally they are in clueless conventional wisdom mode: Woe-are-the-Democrats, McCain is lapping this up.

I wonder what rationalizing nonsense they'll spit out, when Obama jumps to the lead after vanquishing Hillary? No doubt the cause and effect will be twisted and bizarre, but that's par for their course.

However, there is one underlying point: This is still a 21% liberal, 32% conservative nation. Obama as the more progressive candidate is uphill in many vital states. No doubt we'll blow race after race by being too bold in the nominating process (i.e. Nevada gov 2006, Titus), let's just hope it's not the presidency. In '06 we had a tropical wind at our back via a 2nd term midterm. Almost anything was destined to succeed. My fear is the party base and netroots didn't grasp the situational influence of that result, and believe that every cycle they can get away with force feeding candidates who do not fit demographic tendencies or partisan preference.

59. Underestimate McCain at your peril
Also, close and divisive primaries hurt. I specifically recall the 2002 race for Florida Gov. between Reno and McBride. The primary was extremely close with McBride winning by just a few thousand votes. He followed that up by nominating an old white guy for Lt. Gov. Couple that with a Bush in Tallahassee and he lost big and drug the whole ticket down with him.

Nominating an inexperienced campaigner can bite you in the ass. JEBtm won the debates and basically wiped the floor with our nominee. Could Reno have won? Doubtful, it was a bad year for Dems across the board. However, the size of his loss drug the entire party down.

Yes, there could be great upside for party if we nominate Obama and get a win! However, there is also pretty big downside risk to the party as a whole. At the end of the day, he could end up with 45-40% of the vote. However, we could end up with 55% landslide.

I don't see a scenario where Hillary would get less than 48%. However, if she wins it will be a much narrower range of between about 49-52% maximum.

Let's not forget McCain... he isn't George W. and he appeals to that OTHER 1/3 of the electorate that the Dems need to insure victory.

I believe he will be harder to beat than W. After all, we did that twice which brings up the final issue: who controls the votes. :(

There are MANY reasons to worry.

62. I think we're "fated" to win, by GOP design
November 2008: GOP rigs voting machines to ensure Clinton win after she steals nomination via dirty tricks

January 2009: Clinton takes office in 5th month of Second Great Depression. Cheney Sleeper Cells in stacked NSA/CIA/FBI are activated.

January 2009-2011: Clintons restructure economy & "New Federal Reserve" to appease Wall Street. Civil unrest, food riots clamped down

November 2012: Clinton vs. Giuliani. In a reoccurance of the Election of 1824, due to a third party, no candidate receives minimum number of electoral votes. Clinton is chosen President by the Democratic Party-controlled House of Representatives, as per rules in the Constitution. Giuliani "Real President in Exile" movement begins.

March 2015: Clinton attempts shutdown of NSA, after years of false intelligence from Cheney sleeper cells & information that a Pentagon coup d'etat is being plotted. Clinton is accused of lying (again, ala sniper fire) & attempting another coup (ala 2008). GOP stages walkout on Congress as Clinton is called "illegitimate" and "authoritarian."

April 4, 2015: Two USAF F-16s flown by "Al Qaeda sympathizers" who "infiltrated the military" crash into the Capitol Dome during an emergency session of Congress called by Clinton. All national-level Democrats are killed. A few survivors of the blaze are gunned down by special Sleeper Cell teams. The Neocon continuity-of-government (Rex 84) plan goes into effect. Chief Justice John Roberts swears-in President Giuliani at midnight on the steps of the Lincoln Monument. Roundups of political suspects & dissidents begin. Detentions at Nationals Stadium and several major U.S. cities' sports stadiums are initiated. Thousands disappear.

It's fated, all right.

64. Yes we fucking are
Because no one is campaigning against McCain right now, so he's getting a pass (he'd of course get one anyway) in the media. The nation is still made up primarily of people that watch TV news, and they'll buy into whatever the Hypnotist-In-A-Box tells them to believe.

I'd love to see us win in November. I just think that in order to do so, we need to put aside all the stupid crap of "I won't vote for X" because if people really won't vote for X to defeat McCain, then you can count on us losing.

65. If only it were that simple.
Every day the Clintons keep Obama distracted reduces our chances of winning in November. And even that's simplifying so as not to offend the faithful.

66. "excellent chance of winning in November" Keep telling yourself that.
The two warm bowls of dog sick that we have served up will not stand a chance against a "tired old man".

You and people like you were warned by people like me A LONG time ago that these two would doom us to a McCain presidency.

Hillary and Obama barely beat McCain in the polls now. This in a nightmare world of war, virtual economic collapse, and all manner of crap that can be wrought by a monkey.

We should be ahead by miles!

But keep telling yourself that. Just keep repeating it, and click some Ruby slippers.

67. I don't think the likes of YOU know more than folks like Peter Hart
dearie.

You're completely full of s**t as always, not to mention lousy with arrogance. Should the dem win, I will so enjoy mercilessly taunting you. You no more have a crystal ball than I do, butvI don't pretend to. And I know you're not terribly informed, but this presidential year the economy is in worse shape since any presidential election year since 1932.

Oh, and sorry, JE had big vulnerabilities too.
