Clinton-Obama will be the Ticket by June 1st.
Obama can compliment Hillary Clinton in the general Election. Hillary Clinton can lead Obama to the White House in 8 years while he is being groomed/trained as an apprentice by Bill Clinton.

This is what it will be by June 1st. It's a good thing too. Michelle is ill-prepared at the moment, very competent but not seasoned to endure the Princess Diana attention she will receive 24/7 as the wife of the President/ First Lady.....I prefer to have them slowly, methodically trained to endure the pressure.

Hillary will want Obama.....they maybe grumpy at one another at the moment, but it would be the smart choice....Hillary will see the wisdom in the choice....they will be a great team.

If Hillary claws to the top by pulling off a SuperD coup, so many would walk away from the party in disgust there would be no Dem party in reality anymore.

52. I said the same thing down thread.
Obama's mass appeal stems from the fact that he's a different kind of politician. Turning him into another Clinton is a recipe for disaster. If that's what the electorate wanted, HRC would have sealed the deal long ago.

30. Agreed.
I think I would like Obama a lot less at the end of 8 years being mentored by Bill Clinton. Talk about sleaze!

I actually think I would be a lot more excited about Hillary as a candidate if Bill did not come along with her. I defended him during the Lewinsky scandal, and I don't think he should have been impeached for it, but that and some of the other scandals he's been involved in do kind of make me queasy.

59. I can't get excited about either Clinton anymore. It's just to hard to
separate the two of them. She co-ops all the good he did during his 8 years while distancing herself from any of the stuff she thinks will be a turn off this time around. This business that she supposedly didn't know about Bill's Weather Underground pardons is a perfect example. Earlier in the primary, she claimed they discussed "everything," and now that something undesirable is included in Bill's "everything," she pleads ignorant.

No more Clintons.

19. I'm not necessarily opposed to a Clinton/Obama ticket, but your language is pretty demeaning
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 10:42 AM by democrattotheend
"Hillary Clinton can lead Obama to the White House in 8 years while he is being groomed/trained as an apprentice by Bill Clinton."

That's pretty condescending, especially given the fact that Obama is ahead in votes and pledged delegates. If she is so competant why is she in this position? And frankly, I think I'd like Obama a lot less after he spent 8 years being "groomed/trained" by Bill Clinton. I'd rather have him the way he is now, thank you very much.

If she managed to wrest the nomination from him with superdelegates, she'd have to beg him to take the VP slot to avoid a disastrous split in the party. And as an Obama supporter, I'm torn whether he should take it at that point. Certainly not if she treats him with as much condescension as you have in your post.

49. A better question
does she WANT to be VP? I personally very much doubt it. Too humiliating and 8 years is way too ling to wait, especially at her age. Also, if they lose, it would hurt her 2012 chances. I also doubt that the famous "dream ticket" would have the alleged healing power that the pundits talk about. The way I see it, rational people, once the heat of the primary is over and nerves are less frayed will still vote for the dem nominee, no matter what. The irrational supporters that would rather go with McCain or just stay at home and watch are likely in my view to be offended if their girl/boy is offered the VP slot. A perfectly justified feeling (in my allegedly very biased oppinion) in the case of Obama. And in Clinton's case, can you hear the cries of SEXISM, we will nto be second, she is the best in the kitche, so she must be first, etc. Just my 2 cents...

lol You Clinton supporters need to get a freaking clue... First lady is a ceremonial title... despite what some of you think first lady plays NO role in running the government.

Maybe that is why you guys/gals think Hillary is qualified... maybe you don't realize that first ladies don't actually help the president do his job. That all they do is sit and look pretty... and write children's books and help decorate the white house.(and no this has nothing to do with gender... this is what they have done...literally)

If he were to give her the VP slot, he'd have constant interference from Hill and Bill trying to run the show.

If he were to offer her the top spot (which is an outrageous premise to begin with), Bill's busybodying would cheat him out of any important fulfillment of the role. Also, she'd lose the GE, so it could end his career.

Nice doggy metaphor. Hillary can "lead" Obama while he's being "groomed / trained" by Bill.

I think you've gone subliminal.

To hell with that. Obama's better than the Clintons and she'd be lucky to be offered the VP spot - VERY lucky after the damage she's done to the Democratic Party trying to make him dirtier than the Clintons already are. She's toxic and will bring the RW out in droves. We don't need her nuclear obliteration ambitions anywhere near the WH to try to keep the Bush/Clinton dynasty near the seat of power. Time to break away from all that shit.

62. Actually, I believe Obama has peaked..
and from here on in he will be trending toward a downward spiral. You've got to realize folks, he just spent $11 million for acquainting Pennsylvanians with name recognition and his vacuous message. Throwing money at vote getting didn't buy him a Win. If it weren't for the AA vote, Obama would be flat on his kiester.

Why everyone is angry at Bill Clinton for bringing up the Race Card issue once again, is astonishing. I completely see his point. He wants to clear the air once and for all. So, whats wrong with that? Clinton is reopening the Race issue because people are believing the propaganda laid out by the Obama Camp that Bill Clinton is a racist is TRUE. It is NOT and NEVER was True!

In this case scenario, Obama and his minions have used the "Race Card" for deceiving many in the AA community into believing the Clintons are actually racists! Obama and his Camp are using "skin color" to galvanize AA's to blindly vote without question for Obama without looking at which of the candidates, Clinton or Obama, can bring the needed changes to this country by Winning the General Election and electing a Dem President.

Theres no doubt about it. The 20 yr association of the Obamas with Rev Wright has caused incalculable damage to Obama as a viable presidential candidate for the Dem Nomination. Last night after the election results were in, the last thing I heard was McCain and the Republicans are mounting a campaign against Obama detailing his association with Ayers, Wright, Farrakhan and Obama's former Muslim ties. Republicans will be blasting the media-waves with 24/7 info crucifying Obama as a tainted, unpatriotic American who will fulfill Bin Laden's prediction of destroying America from within. Obama doesn't stand a chance against the Republicans...at least, this is what I see happening if AA's want to waste their votes on a damaged candidate who will never see the Oval office no matter how many AAs vote for him.

It's time to start thinking with our brains rather than basing our votes on emotion, personality, race or gender. We have to be cognizant always of the bigger picture. Remembering the bigger picture must include the Republicans and who of the two Dem candidates can beat them at their vicious games.

67. You thought he peaked months ago
By the way, Bill Clinton contradicted himself within TWO DAYS on the race card issue.

Listen to his original answer, then listen to his subsquent denial of what he was on record as saying......Spin, spin, lie,lie....I did not have sex with that woman. That's a lie...

68. Not True..
I've never used the phrase..."peaked".. I've always thought he was not the right candidate for the job because he lacks the gravitas for such a position. Serving up an empty resume for the position of Leader of the FREE World is unacceptable to most of the electorate. For the most part over these last few months, Obama has demonstrated he isn't ready to accept the role of president. For one, he is a very thin skinned individual evidencing a spiteful temperament. Obama's adolescent responses, mocking his opponent when his ego is bruised is just not what we consider presidential timber.

I can't believe the shift that has occurred here over the last year or so. And have a hard time believing most of the new posters are really Dems. I know their vitriol has driven me away to a great extent. There are so few real discussions in GDP anymore; it's just shit slinging.

Never thought I'd be nostalgic for the days following the worst election fraud our country has ever seen.

73. Although I would have worded it differently, I agree with your sentiment.
I also think they complement each other extremely well. He's got the vision, the message, the ability to reach out and mobilize people. She's got the policy and the tools to implement them.

It may be the first true co-presidency. I greatly admire both of these candidates and would like to believe that they have the guts and foresight to seal a deal and work together towards the common goals.

All the people in this thread that say they would not vote for a ticket that has Clinton anywhere on it are not true Democrats, IMO. They have hitched their wagon to an individual star without really understanding what the goal is. Clinton hate is blinding them.

74. Never gonna happen
Hilly and Billy have their reign all planned out. There is no way they are going to let some popular, articulate, likable guy sitting around with the potential to steal their thunder. They would have to find some way to neutralize Obama -- perhaps assign him to count paper clips in the vault of the National Archives for four years. And, he's not going to do that.

Obama is not going to play second fiddle to the the Borgias.

95. Obama would wisely pass on such a pairing.
IN the ridiculous scenario that superdelegates steal the nomination from him, it won't happen before the voting is over, and Obama could support her by campaigning for her, as a Democrat -- but I doubt he'd want to associate himself with Clinton politics.

Fun speculation, but most unlikely.

Not to mention, Obama "trained by Bill Clinton" is not what ANYONE wants. Michelle is as ready as any prospective First Lady has been and she has had fewer gaffes in this campaign than the first spouse who accompanies HRC. She is a brilliant, well spoken woman - who is being demonised by one out of context comment.
