Howard Wolfson: "...“We will be honoring our debts in the coming months.”..."

That must be a great comfort to all the small busineses who extended credit to the campaign :eyes:

By LESLIE WAYNE
Published: April 22, 2008

Even though Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton raised $21 million in March, her campaign continues to struggle with a cash squeeze as her unpaid bills mount and she spends more money than she is taking in, according to new campaign finance filings.

Mrs. Clinton, of New York, currently has $10.3 million in outstanding primary debts but only $9.5 million available to cover them, leaving an $800,000 shortfall at the end of March. In February, the Clinton campaign had unpaid bills of $8.7 million and $11.7 million in cash.

By comparison, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, who raised $42 million in March, had $43 million in cash for the coming primaries and a campaign debt of less than $660,000 at the end of March. Mr. Obama is spending 75 cents for every dollar he is taking in; Mrs. Clinton is spending $1.10.

In a conference call with reporters on Monday, the Clinton campaign sought to quell any concerns about finances. Howard Wolfson, a campaign spokesman, said, “This campaign has resources,” and added, “We will be honoring our debts in the coming months.”

1. My 12 year old daughter heard me tell someone on the phone
that Hillary's campaign is in debt, and when I hung up she said "Jeez mom, even you can balance a checkbook, I hope hillary doesn't win or we're screwed"...
after I chastised her for her potty mouth, I gave her a big hug and told her that maybe when she grows up she can be the first woman president:)

43. Adorable.
Kids have this incredible way of cutting through the bullshit (excuse my potty mouth) and will say the truth even if its offensive or uncomfortable.

Your kid sounds adorable and SMART. I'd be proud.

Stupid pointless off-topic story time:
When I was 4, my father took me to a McDonalds in inner city DC after a 'Skins game. We were on the way home to our lily white suburb in Virginia. We were in a longish line at the register when I shouted to him and the entire restaurant, "DADDY! HOW COME EVERYBODY IN HERE IS BLACK?!" I remember the people around us laughed. My dad, however, did not see the humor in it.

44. When we first moved to CA, we had a VCR that broke..I found a Hitachi office not far away
so I piled the kids in the car and hit the freeway.. This was way before most people had even heard of VCRs, so getting them fixed was no small ordeal, and ours was under warrant, so I though the west coast HQ was the place to go..

We foound the place, and they actually gave us a new one, so off we went to find a place for lunch..

We found a mcdonalds (I know..but my boys were small, and that's where they wanted to go).

When dad got home they had to tell him about our adventure..
"Mom took us to a McDonalds at a JAIL.. (it had bars on the windows)"

My husband looked at me and said "what the hell?.. where did you GO today"..

I had taken my boys to lunch in Compton, CA..

2. Fucking freeloading classless asshats...
Imagine getting the sales pitch to do stuff for these asshats where they needed it yesterday. As a vendor, you jump through hoops and go the extra mile to get an event set up. You lose money giving them a break.

And then they jack up up the ass by not paying the bill. Yeah, they're busy. Yeah, they can't pay. Sure, your banker won't mind you being in the hole. Sure, your credit card company won't mind you being late.

Just say you did some shit for Hill and Bill. They'll understand.

45. Good idea!
I wonder what will happen when people start to demand cash in advance from her? What will she do then?

I wonder how long they can go without paying their bills before the "Hillary" supporters start to see the light and stop sending in their hard earned money? Or will the big money backers cut their loses and stop dumping money into a sinking ship?

23. The largest debt is $4.5 million, owed to the polling firm of Mark Penn
..., who resigned under pressure as her chief strategist this month over conflicts with his other business clients. Mr. Penn’s firm had already been paid $14 million, according to federal filings, making it one of the campaign’s biggest expenses.

This whole Hillary not paying her bills on time *really* REALLY bothers me! I do sewing on the side to try and make the ends meet and if someone doesn't pay me, or even if they delay paying me, it can end up as a real financial crisis... I'm talking late mortgage payment or feeding the kids pasta for several days in a row. It hurts! I'm sure some of the folks that she owes money are in similar straits...

C'mon Hill... do the right thing!

And I can say with almost 90 percent certainty that the coming months part is bullcrap. Most campaigns take years to pay back their debts. With some taking decades with very few getting into 10 million in debt territory.
