Obama was given a flag pin by disabled Veteran Philip Fiumara, Jr.
Video here:

Hillary supporters who are posting slams against Obama over wearing this flag pin need to stop right now. It is very disrespectful to all veterans and those who are still serving.

1. I like how he wasn't even wearing it tonight
Just a total rejection of the ridiculousness of the idea that wearing a flag pin defines his patriotism.

3. I don't think people are critical of him wearing the pin.
They are critical of him saying tonight that he never said he wouldn't wear a pin, when he has said precisely that.

Because someone gave him one that had something to back it up of substance.

Grow the fuck up.

This ain't the Nuremberg Trials, and we don't live in Nazi Germany!

10. Saying that you choose not to wear a pin is not the same as saying

you would never wear one. Good grief. Nuance is a lost art in our new soundbite society.

11. "when he has said precisely that...." So what if he did? Was he supposed to shit on a veteran?
I'd change my mind too, if I had made such a vow about not wearing flag lapel pins, if confronted by a situation where a disabled veteran asked me to wear one.

Obama is obviously a progressive thinker, and not bound to convictions founded on trivial matters such as wearing flag lapel pins.

He cared more for disabled veteran Philip Fiumara, Jr. than he did for his own, inconsequential rule, which makes me respect Obama more now than ever before.

This is a completely manufactured issue that no one actually cares about outside of punditry and political couch commanders.

32. He said AT THE TIME, right after 911, that he DON'T wear one, he did not say he'd NEVER wear one.
GEE, why is that so hard to understand IMO, anyone with the maturity above that of a Junior High Clique? Note: My apologies to JH student cliques. ;)

43. And that's the most important issue facing the country, after all.
I mean, if Obama changed his mind about never wearing lapel jewelry, then obviously he can't be president, right?

4. I cannot believe some people think Obama should have embarrassed a disabled vet on television.
The disabled vet gave a very sincere gift to Obama and apparently, some among us think he should have ungraciously refused and embarrassed the man on the national stage.

What the hell is wrong with you people?

And as to the "lie" allegation....ridiculous.

Obama said he didn't want to currently wear one in some kind of nationalistic fervor.

I cannot believe we are having this freaking discussion over FLAG PINS!!!!

This election has really gone into the crapper.

12. That's right, Swampy -
I'm a genuine fucking Vietnam Veteran.

LEAVE OBAMA ALONE ABOUT THE GODDAMNED FLAG PIN.

AS LONG AS SCUMSUCKING WAR CRIMINALS LIKE BUSH AND CHENEY WEAR THEM

WHILE TORTURING MEN IN SECRET PRISONS, THAT FLAG PIN ON YOUR LAPEL IS THE MARK OF A TRAITOR.

OBAMA is one of the finest patriots I have ever heard speak.

I'd want him watching my back in harms way.

More than any of the cowards dressed up as 'flag pin rangers' on THIS fucking board.

14.  That's right..Obama accepted a "flag pin" from a veteran who
asked him to wear it..which was really poignant since Obama had the good judgement and common sense to know we shouldn't have bombed Iraq in the first place.

<conclusion snip>

"The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not -- we will not -- travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in
