What do you guys think? Go the way Clinton did in 1992 with two talented young people running on the ticket?

Executive experience
Extremely Charismatic
Clinton endorser (helps unite the party by picking a Clinton Super)
From a sort of Southern State

The ticket just sounds cool...kind of rolls of your toungue

3. He's sharp. He outperformed Kaine during the "Beltway Primaries" showdowns, in my view.
...In the side-by-side interviews I saw.

He has a bright future but not for the VP slot this time.

My hope and money is still on Obama/Webb.

4. O needs someone with security/foreign policy cred
A Biden or Webb would be ideal for him. Clark would be great for Clinton but not for Obama because Clark has no experience in the civilian side of government.

7. Richardson will be his choice if he is smart... Biden is too commanding of a figure imo
Biden might overshadow him personality wise...

Richardson is the smart choice... imo

but i agree with you on clark

She's 50, ya know, and she likes to kick, stretch, and kick.

10. This could be the olive branch we need to reach the Hillary supporters!
Good thinking!

"I'm 50! Five-Oh!"

6. I'm sure O'Malley would be up for it, even though he endorsed Clinton early. But I don't know.
I like O'Malley a lot, even though he is having some problems with cleaning up the budget deficit mess that Erlich left. I would not be at all surprised if he was on the ticket someday soon. The man is charismatic and very ambitious. Plus, he plays in a band.

But I think Obama (hee. I first typed O'bama) needs someone with national security or foreign policy credentials. If I were Obama, I'd pick Wes Clark.

8. I like the idea
I am looking for a surprise. I would rather depart from the 2004 formula of recuiting a VP from the field of losing candidates.
His campaign style sounds like it is compatable and he seems to have applied some interesting initiatives.
Good find.

9. As a Maryland girl...
... I LOVE this idea. (I lived in Maryland for 6-7 years and graduated from University of Maryland - GO TERPS!)

O'Malley helped the City of Baltimore make some good strides while Mayor, not perfect, but improvement. (Since he left that office to go on to Governor, the city has TANKED. Crime is through the roof. Drug use and arrests are back up. Further evidence he did a pretty good job with what he had.) He's a great, charasmatic leader and is easy on the eyes too! And his policies would fit well with Obama's. Frankly, I never understood why he was a Clinton supporter in the first place, unless Barbara Mikulski swayed him.

Here's the thing though, Maryland is HEAVILY democratic so choosing someone from MD for the ticket wouldn't really be HELPING him any. I think he should probably go for someone from RED state or swing state - TX, OH, FL, PA, VA (Jim Webb comes to mind). Are there any from these states that might make a good choice?

BTW, I wouldn't call Maryland a "southern" state. They neither left the Union nor are considered "southern" by the people that count in this case... southerners.

11. Approval rating 33% in Jan 2008.
And then there's the drunk driving disclosure (or lack thereof). I know everyone has skeletons in the closet, but not sure this would be the best guy for VP. I do like the name though....

12. No, he doesn't add anything to ticket. Gore helped win a couple of southern states in '92
but Maryland will vote for Obama by a large margin even without O'Malley on the ticket. Plus he adds nothing on foreign policy.

13. Didn't he endorse Hillary?
Those two together would likely have women throwing their panties on stage. But He doesn't add any state to the ticket
