Had lunch with John and Teresa Kerry today. They are FABULOUS!
Okay, it was me and a couple of thousand at the Women for Kerry luncheon in DC. Raised 1.3 million dollars.

Teresa was spellbinding. She spoke very quietly, but passionately. And Kerry is no slouch in the charisma department. He gave a terrific speech - not a stemwinder, but it brought the crowd to it's feet many many times.

Teresa and John were very affectionate. She said Kerry would make a great nursery school teacher - she said he is just amazing with 2 year olds! Teresa also spoke about regaining America's standing in the world community.

It is so inspiring to listen to these two smart, compassionate - and witty - people. They are going to lead America through a wonderful transformation - out of the wilderness and into a new golden age.

This was an incredible event - for those of you wondering where JK was today. He did give a short soundbite to a reporter as people were crowding the barriers afterwards to take pictures and get autographs, but I heard it on CNN, and the sound is pretty bad. Hopefully he will have another press availability shortly.

Both JK and TK spent a long time after the event shaking hands and talking to people. One young man told Kerry he was just back from Iraq, and, he said to Kerry "You would be surprised how much support there is for you in the military!". Kerry thanked him for his service, and chatted about what branch of military, etc. Kerry had a kind word for everyone who wanted to meet him.

Folks, we have a great future President and First Lady!

7. Nice to know Kerry is good with two year olds
That will come in handy when President Kerry has to deal with petulant right wing wack jobs in Congress who throw temper tantrums instead of doing their jobs.

I was all for him before but didn't know much about her. She blew me away on the news this week.

We have to protect them, gang. The vast right wing conspiracy is gearing up as we speak.

12. he has his own charisma
different from the type you see from bill clinton or john edwards. but kerry himself has something and sometimes people have to actually see him for themselves to understand it. but there is something about him that people just really like and they enjoy being around him. that the kids get along with him so well says a lot also.

16. I don't like Kerry and the only thing he's good for is curing insomnia
It doesn't take much to put kids to sleep. Kerry's speeches could put out an ADD kid in seconds, so I can see where worn-out mothers would like Kerry's speeches for their hyperactive kids.

24. you mean landsliding his ass
and how many before X-mas were predicting Kerry as the winner of the primaries. I dont get where this Kerry puts people to sleep arguement comes from, Ive seen him speak, hes not the best, hes not that bad either though, oh and I have ADD, and Ive never fallen asleep during a Kerry speech.

25. But he needed the help of Torricelli of senate ethics violation fame and
Gepfart and a bunch of Dems willing to use Repuke tactics against Dean to do so.

And oh yes, a bank who was willing to overlook the fact that Kerry could not pay with his current income a $200,000 per year mortgage on his $6.4 million loan on his half of his Boston mansion. Wonder what legislation Kerry promised the bank for that loan?

I take it you don't run a bank.

Just another Dean crybaby.

27. Dean and Gephardt still spend more money in Iowa than Kerry did
and dean lost. as for torricelli, that's the accusations against kerry without any evidence of his involvement. it makes dean supporters feel better to see their guy as a victim of dirty tricks rather than a crappy candidate. as if none of the other candidates had negative campaigning against them. maybe dean shouldn't have wasted money sending mailings to voters in massachusettes asking why kerry was behind in his own state rather than being on the ground in iowa asking for votes. maybe dean shouldn't have run ads against others accusing them of being like bush rather than trying to convince them to vote for him rather than telling them why not to vote for someone.

dean got tom harkin's endorsement. was that meant as an endorsement in exchange for a vp in case dean won ? i have about as much proof of that as the things you accuse kerry of.

23. It might then be advisable, to perhaps put Kerry on the tube...
and get some sleep.

In that case, the rest of us could get just a bit of respite from these constant attacks on him....:)

20. It made my day. I was surprised to have been so bowled over.
The crowd - mostly women - showed an energy and commitment to electing Kerry that was inspiring.

And his salmon-colored tie was absolutely beautiful.

21. This tie? I wonder what she was saying to him...

AP Photo/Jeff Chiu

JK also wears ties that have little American flags and his initials, JK, on them. I have a light blue one like it that came in a lovely box from Vinyard Vines. I understand they are now a collector's item, and I am thrilled to have received one last December. I treasure it.
