Ever Noticed The One Name NOT Discussed In The Media
The one name who fits both Foreign and domestic credentials. Is from the South.
Is moderate.
Is a friend of Kerry's.
Is someone Kerry knows he can trust.
Is capable of assuming the office of presidency should Kerry die.
Has war experience.
Has political experience.
Is charismatic, but doesn't overshadow Kerry.
Is a great speaker.

I'm speaking of course, of a name that hasn't been mentioned lately, or much at all - what with all the talk of Gephardt, Edwards, Clark, Bayh (who is Bleyh IMO) and others taking up the oxygen.

Max Cleland. A guy who's been with Kerry from the start of his campaign.

If you're looking for a out-of-leftfield candidate - I'd say he should be at the top of the list. And if he is the one, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

So that's who I'm going with - Max Cleland. Because it's never who you think it's going to be. :)

1. Wouldn't that be something.
It would go a long way towards focusing attention on disabled americans.

5. Sounds Good To Me
Ga on my mind. I'm sure that there are alot of people in Ga. that would change their minds that voted against him in view of what happened. Goodbye chambliss.

8. true, however
Cleland has a lot more of the qualities Kerry is looking for in a VP than Dean does.

9. Wasn't he a pretty conservative Senator?
IIRC he supported many of Bush's legislative proposals. Also, he won't hand us Georgia. I'd rather see Clark or Edwards, who have more star appeal and, in Clark's case, equal experience?

10. getting max is like getting Clark and Edwards in the same package
A southern moderate with war experience.

Why take one or the other when you can have both?

14. But there are drawbacks...
he's a pretty conservative Senator, he can't carry Georgia, and Kerry already has gotten the point home that he's a veteran. My fear is that the economy, as it "picks up" will become a liability. We should pick Edwards because he's a Southern moderate who can inspire people with his economic philosophy. I'll take that over war experience, which Kerry already has.

11. Max Cleland Didn't Fight Back Effectively During His Last Campaign
Didn't want anything to do with investigating Electronic Voting/Vote Fraud possiblities
Bailed out of the 9/11 Commission

So please excuse me if I'm not thrilled with the idea of having him on ticket as VP.

12. Seen the man fight hard in the past but when attacked hard
He folded.

I am from GA. I know the man has it in him and I have clue what the fuck happened to his campaign.

16. He was rejected by the voters of his own state
If he couldn't convince his fellow Georgians that he should be a US Senator, what makes you think that he can convince them (or voters from other states) that he should be VP?

17. Because...
Well, first of all I think BBV had something to do with why he didn't win. I voted for him.

VP Candidates are usually picked not to win one state or another, but to reinforce the message of the campaign. This is why Clinton picked Gore, for example, to reinforce the New South/Centrist message.

It's possible. It won't make Georgia any more up for grabs (because our other Democratic senator is a traitor) but Georgia doesn't really matter in this election. Florida does. West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas. Of course, these are also reasons to nominate other candidates for VP, like Edwards, Clark, or Graham.

18. I love Max w/ all my heart and soul...
it was the GOP destruction machine that robbed Max of his re-election. To have people actually believe that Saxby Chambliss, a good for nothing shill, was more of a 'patriot' than Max, was money well spent by the GOP hucksters.

Chambliss, the FAKERIOT, will get his due he is already spurned by members in the Senate as just another slug. He's an idiot, and may well get his ass handed to him if the real election results come forth.

Make no mistake, Georgians are not inbred idiots, (well maybe those who voted for Chambliss are), but that election was stolen. As an original NY'er, I have great respect for Georgians, and others from the Southern states. I spent much of my time in the Army in the South, and found the Southerners to be decent people. The Georgians will rise up and depose the boy king...Hell, I'm willing to bet TX will kick punk boys ass in Nov.

Cleland wore the same uniform I wore, we are brothers in arms, we will stand together, just as McCain, Hagel and others who HONORABLY wore the uniforms of our armed forces...not the Chickenhawks and weasels that found that it was easier to sit at home and brag about how great war is....when you don't have to fight one!
