How about Ann Richards for V.P.?
For every long, meandering sentence of Kerry she can balance with a one liner. For his long legislative experience she brings an executive one - the governor of Texas, after all. Her Democratic credentials are great - I think - unless Texans know about her skeletons...

And she certainly knows where the skeletons in Texas are.

The only thing may be her age... how old is she?

1. I think she'd be great, but she is totally uninterested.
Saw her on Larry King and she said she's tired. She would likely accept an ambassadorship though?

Pushing 80 pretty hard, I think.

7. Is she that old? She still does the same exercise trail that...
...I do most everyday and she cruises along pretty good. :)

9. I think she'll be a centenarian.
She's in good shape, but I do think she's at least mid-70s.

5. One Classy Lady
I'm a guy and I think we need more Lady's in our government. Lots less testosterone lots more compassion.

6. My husband had never voted before
Ann ran for governor. I convinced him to register, and he's been a political activist ever since. Ann would be great!

8. I love her to peices but in texas something happened
there was some scandal with ag Maddox that tarred her too - It was just before the election that gave bush the gubeship. Whatever dirty laundry that was might keep her from being considered as VP.

10. How about Janet Reno?!
Or Jodie Foster? Or Marcia Clark? Or some other random name that Kerry could pick to show he really doesn't care about the election?

11. I love Ann Richards...
But she is waaay too old; look at her recent Larry King appearances. She still kicks ass, though. It's funny; I was just in the Texas Capitol and her portrait is right next to W's, and she looks mildly annoyed to be next to him.

12. If we're going with 1980s Pols...Why not go with John Glenn?
He spoke at two Kerry events in Columbus on Wednesday...he looks vigorous for an 80 year old and he can still fire up a crowd.

And he would deliver Ohio. Alas...Ann Richards would not deliver Texas.

Just a thought.

14. Someone who lost to Bush once already? I don't think so.
Sorry, but if Richards hadn't lost to Bush back in 1994, we wouldn't be in this mess.

And isn't it interesting how the same people who felt that Bush, having served only 6 years as governor of Texas, was singularly unqualified to be president in 2000, are now embracing someone who served only four years as governor of Texas.

17. The Concealed Hangun License bill will not be as much of...
...an issue if she ran again so maybe it could work...but then again, I love Ann so I am biased. :)

She may not want to go through an election against him again though. The Bush Attack Machine went into overdrive there at the end...brutally.

18. She said on Larry King she's not interested.
She said she thinks Kerry should pick someone who represents the future, not the past. (She either said or implied she thought Edwards or Dean might be good choices. She was implying that Gephardt would not be a good choice.)

She supported Dean in the Dem. nomination process.

19. I should've said that I think she'd be great, BTW.
Her skeletons - she's a former alcoholic. She's been very upfront about it. No one in Texas seems to hold it against her.

So there would go the implications about Bush being an alcoholic and drug user up until age 40.
