Hillary supporter's thoughts on the latest primary dramas.....
I started out this election supportive of Hillary. Her debate performances made me feel she was the best candidate. I may have come into supporting her through some bias -- I'm an Arkie and a woman.

It really saddens me to see what is happening. This whole primary season has made me sad. Not "bitter", sad. Just as the direction our country has went in the last 7 years makes me sad. Not just for me, but for our country, and our party.

Now it's somewhat socially acceptable to call presidential candidates whores. Is it somewhat socially acceptable to say that presidential candidates of "shucking and jiving"? If you apply the same logic, both phrases are equally wrong, although I don't think even the most stupid of us is unaware of the nasty connotations of "whore" -- case in point, me. Perhaps the main difference was that the person who called Hillary a whore was also a woman, a similar situation can't be said for the person who made the above racist remark. At least "monster" was an insult with no overtones. All came from people who supported the candidate, not the candidate. It still makes me sad.

Now it's somewhat socially acceptable for a Democratic presidential candidate to call another potential nominee of their own party "elitist". Is it somewhat socially acceptable for a Democratic presidential candidate to call another potential nominee of their own party "disingenuous"? Both are character flaws the other side has in abundance, and we should be pointing out those, not downing our own candidates.

I want Pennsylvania to vote, it's so close to the time for the election that if she dropped out now it would be bad.

If she loses PA, I want her to bow out for the sake of the party, so we can start attacking McCain. I still think she would be a better president than Obama, but they're both Democrats and either will be better than McCain.

I do wish that neither of these two great candidates had ever had to run against each other. If either had waited, this would have been a beautiful primary season with an assured Democratic win.

1. You may be taking this too personally.
The things said here at DU have become too emotional and too personal. Of course, some of the comments you mentioned were not said here. But they were endlessly dissected here.

This is politics. Both candidates will say nasty things. Each will try an appeal to our emotions. Try not to take any of this personally. The primary season will play out, and most Democrats, even the shouters and flamers here, will get behind the nominee.

2. One more time, here is the definition:
Whore

1: a woman who engages in sexual acts for money : prostitute; also : a promiscuous or immoral woman
2: a male who engages in sexual acts for money
3: a venal or unscrupulous person

A prostitute.
A person considered sexually promiscuous.
A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain.

--"Shucking and jiving" is strictly a race-related insult.
