This just in today (06-17-04). I can't verify its accuracy:

ATTENTION ON DECK!
For those of you who may not have heard it yet, the SCUTTLEBUTT IN WASHINGTON is that Wes Clark is the odds-on favorite to be named as Kerry's vice presidential running-mate.

In addition, Dallas trial lawyer Fred Baron who headed up Edwards Texas fundraising and is now raising money for Kerry yesterday told a good friend of ours that it's going to be either Edwards or Clark.

And ABC reported tonight that they had learned that foreign policy experience will be a major factor in Kerry's V.P. choice (and guess which candidate has the most of that?).

If you haven't mobilized already, it's time to get active for a Kerry - Clark ticket. Spread the word, saturate the net, write letters and post cards and letters to the editor, vote in internet polls, make phone calls (especially to your undecided, Republican and Independent friends), give money, raise money, inspire, be noisy, be visible, grab attention, wear the buttons and T-shirts, pass out the cards and leaflets, stick on the bumpeer stickers, put up the signs--and go get votes!

CLARK FOR V.P.! IT'S TIME TO MUSTER THE TROOPS AND MARCH

1. There is something in the air
because I caught it just recently myself, can't seem to stay away from the VP threads all of sudden. I would still like to see him as SoS, but since I think thats a slim possibility, I would be thrilled if he were on the ticket.

10. OK... now you having me singing Abba
But, since I only sing that when I'm in a good mood, this is a wonderful thing!

Can you hear the drums Fernando?
I remember long ago another starry night like this
In the firelight Fernando
You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar
I could hear the distant drums
And sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar

They were closer now Fernando
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Fernando
We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Fernando

Now we're old and grey Fernando
And since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand
Can you hear the drums Fernando?
Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the Rio Grande?
I can see it in your eyes
How proud you were to fight for freedom in this land

I've been patiently waiting
Hope it's true. Clark is my first choice, although we do have excellent people to chose from.
We pick candidates because of WHAT THEY KNOW, NOT WHO!

5. I think we all want to see Clark remain in the spotlight
I for one have gotten extremely caught up in the VP excitement. I imagine that is as is should be. With the announcement only a few weeks away, the media is saturated with articles and editorials on the prospective candidates.

In my excitement, I seem to have forgotten something - the reason I get so excited about Wes in the first place; he is a truly dynamic individual. He will NOT fade away, people! Whether or not he gets the nod from Kerry, we will be seeing him for a long time to come.

11. Forgotten something?
Perhaps THIS will refresh your memory:

"A hint of a deliberate campaign to connect Iraq with 9/11 and al-Qaeda surfaced one year ago in a televised interview of General Wesley Clark on the popular public-affairs program, Meet the Press. In answer to a question, Clark asserted, "there was a concerted effort during the fall of 2001, starting immediately after 9/11, to pin 9/11 and the terrorism problem on Saddam Hussein."

"It came from the White House, it came from other people around the White House. It came from all over. I got a call on 9/11. I was on CNN, and I got a call at my home saying, 'you got to say this is connected. This is state-sponsored terrorism. This has to be connected to Saddam Hussein.'""

http://www.quotes2u.com/archives/061704.htm

That was "conspiracy nut" Wes Clark when he said it, back when it took guts to say the emperor had no clothes.

Go Wes.

15. Ah yes... that's my Wes
When Edwards announced his intention to run for nominee, I got interested. When Graham announced, I got a little excited, but when Clark entered the arena, I went apeshit! Every time he opened his mouth I did the wave...lol.

I would love to see him get this nod, but if he doesn't, he won't go away, and THAT is what I forgot... momentarily.

Thanks for the quote!

17. Eh, Venus. Welcome to DU
You're absolutely right. The next time Clark was on MTP, Russert threw that quote back at him with an expression on his face like Clark had claimed space aliens had landed or something.

Now, of course, no rational person can deny it.

for JK. He'd bring back in some of the left, he had a good grass-roots foundation ??? He could be an excellent choice.

14. Yeah, I was convinced that was the case because that was a day...
...a friend was supposed to hear about a job with the campaign and it depended on who the VP pick was going to be.

Still hasn't heard though.

So it was bad insider information.

I wasn't saying anything about who the favorite was. I was just looking at what Kerry was doing the day after he promissed to make a decision.

that Wes would be the VP....and we had probably the first big discussion about all this... I am very proud of my early bravery....if I'm wrong, then I will take any chiding without flinching!! LOL

18. yeah, yeah, yeah we're sure!
We want him to be the favorite and then we want him to get it.

:bounce::bounce::bounce:
Edwards isn't a bad guy -- if he gets it I can live with that. He sure is easy on the eyes. Nice fellow, I'm sure. Seems sincere and all that. But I would much prefer Clark.

Wish Kerry would hurry up and decide. So we can start arguing about something else.

best suits the selection of Clark. There is no way we will get any relief concerning Iraq in the international arena without the selection of Clark.
