Since nobody has started a thread on this, I figured I would.

2. It's McCain's if he would choose to accept
It would seem that Kerry's choice would be McCain. If McCain would accept, such a team would strike serious fear into the Bush campaign.

Personally, I would like to see Dean or Gore get the nod. Gore would like decline seeing as how he has already served as Vice President. Dean would bring some serious energy into what has been a lackluster campaign by Kerry thus far.

Clark and Edwards are fine choices, but then the campaign would likely remain a yawner.

4. wrong
Kerry would never invite him really, a pro-lifer and Repugnant from head to toe. Kerry just wanted people to think that he would, to show he's willing to reach out.

6. it would bring in the anti-war folks...

and a two-man military tag team against a non-military tag team - why put pretend soldiers in charge of security when you've got the real deal in Kerry and Clark who understands what your sons and daughters are going through. Bush has done a minimally good job, but now it's time to turn it over to the professionals.

PLus he's South.

I can see it,

10. I had a www.amystrange.com website...

I'm looking for a host because of a mixup. You can still see some of it at

http://www.speakeasy.org/~davepa/

but not all the links work, but you can see more here:

http://www.speakeasy.org/~davepa/shadows.html

click on a month and then a date and you can see what happened on that day in the history of the unexplained...

and you are right it is more elaborate,

11. Cowgirl's Morning Line
Edwards: Great blue collar southern pedigree and style brought this guy alot of support during the primaries. Southern congressional Democrats want him on the ticket bad. He's a looker too.
Analysis: Early favorite. Light on experience, rumors he and Kerry haven't exactly hit it off may mar dreams of this balanced ticket.
Bottom Line: If Kerry goes with the Southern strategy AND there's no one else who combines appeal and experience, and a clean bill of health, he's got a shot.

Clark: Arkansas born former 4 Star General and NATO commander AND he's a liberal. Be still my beating heart. Did you say foreign policy experience!
Analysis: The Generals been a loyal soldier for Kerry since dropping out but his performance during the primaries was erratic and lack of domestic policy experience could hurt. Expect GOP Generals to come out of the woodwork to criticize this guy. Offers swing state and some southern appeal.
Bottom Line: Bet, but demand value.

Gephardt: Rock solid old war horse who's been around forever--no surprises here. Strong labor support could help in swing states.
Analysis: Gep's Kamikaze attack on Dean during the Iowa caucuses helped Kerry win the nomination--some Deaniacs have long memories--could swing votes to Nader. Mr. White Bread makes Kerry look exciting.
Bottom Line: The "safe" choice for a Swing State strategy.

Vilsac: Iowa governor helped Kerry win the nomination. Attractive, moderate candidate with swing state appeal.
Analysis: Don't know much about this guy. Maybe that's good, maybe not. Not much foreign policy experience.
Bottom Line: Another swing state possibility.

Nunn: Late entry. Former Georgia senator is a conservative and a noted hawk with solid foreign policy expertise. Adds considerable gravitas and may reassure moderates and conservatives fed up with Bush that Democrats can be trusted with national security.
Analysis: Kerry could win some moderates and conservatives in the south but risk alienating anti-war activist types in the swing states handing votes to Nader.
Bottom Line: If he passes the vet a very strong possibility. DLC types will love this guy and unless Kerry decides for his own reasons to stand up to them they will have their way.

Dean: A week ago I wouldn't have put him on the list but recent polls showing a Kerry/Dean ticket outpolling a Kerry/Gephardt ticket and putting Kerry safely over the top in swing states rate him a mention. Deficit hawk moderate former Vermont Gov. who became the darling of left wing activists through outspoken opposition to the war is a dynamic speaker with his own network of grassroots supporters could cut deep into Nader's base and energize non-voters--the progressive's wet dream. No foreign policy experience but his instincts are excellent hence the bumper sticker slogan "Howard Dean was right"
Analysis: Two New England liberals on the same ticket--are you nuts! Probably, but they are sort of cute together--the Felix and Oscar of politics--at least as far as style goes. Dean may be the progressive activist's wet dream but some analysts consider him to be Karl Rove's wet dream. He's outspoken (read gaff prone) animated (read borderline nut case) and of course there's the scream.
Bottom Line: Unless Kerry wants to pick a fight with the DLC it's not gonna happen, but wouldn't you love to see him on the state with Cheney.

MY PICKS: Kerry's under alot of pressure to choose a Southern running mate to avoid losing any more southern seats in Congress.

1. Nunn
2. Clark
3. Edwards

Long Shot: Dean

13. I have no idea!
I'm glad it's not my decision. I just hope the Kerry camp picks someone who appeals to the undecideds in the battleground states. He's already got the staunch Dem, and my, vote.

I think Kerry is going to go with Graham. This is just a gut feeling I have, it isn't based on any news stories.
