They have the knuckle draggers who would support * if he ate a live baby while standing behind a Faux News podium.

We have the pot-bangers who would support McClinton even though she lies to them to their faces and as one DUer said, will work to defeat Senator Obama if he is our nominee.

That leaves 62% sane people.

Come November -- can we do this?

2. Yes we can!
Don't forget the new voters! Only 55% of folks vote (maybe more now)......we've got quite a percentage we can bring to just end it with McCain early in the evening!

6. Yes we can!
Look at the number of independents registering as Dem to vote in the PA primary.

If it was just left to the populist wing of the Democratic Party, I'd be worried. But, at work, I have been talking to a lot of (closet) Repubs who are now self-identifying as independent. They are paying attention to the news headlines: the economy, the war in Iraq, the rising energy costs. They seem to feel that Obama is addressing the issues that are important to them and they plan to vote for Obama in the general if he is the nominee.

We can do this by forming a coalition of informed voters who are part of the reality-based community.

I think this will be the first general election where we break free of the wedge issue stranglehold.

9. But this is 62% of the COUNTRY
Taking into account their 19% fringe and our 19% fringe -- that doesn't leave a large margin.

Doesn't fare any better for McWar, I concede that -- but it is a large chunk of Low Information Voters we are talking about here.

That spooks me.

7. I think it will be the moderate Republicans who will decide this election
That's why we're seeing so many Republicans changing their affiliation for this election. You might have the few who are trying to mess with the dem primary but for the most part they ain't buying what Bush is selling anymore and they want a chance to decide which Democrat runs in the next election. How are the moderate Republicans leaning?

How does this sound: Their conservative voters for McCain will cancel out Democratic progressives for Obama. Hillary's 19% (that you mentioned) will cancel out Obama's African american voters. That leaves the moderate republicans and who they're favoring. I'm not sure of the percentage of black dems who would be considering Obama, but I wonder if you think this adds up to anything worth considering?

(Lets not call them Pot Bangers, we have to get through this without tearing each other apart  )

11. I am causing the problem I am concerned about

Good comments -- I appreciate the feedback. I just pulled 19% out of my butt, I really don't know what the number is, but would venture to say that the fan clubs are similar in size right now.

12. I had just seen this post before I saw yours and it tore me up:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3153424 We've just got to pull together and work to blow the Republican party out of the water this time with no question as to who won. Our military can't wait longer than that.

You're not causing a problem, emotions are high. I didn't answer your question before, but I really do think we can do it.
