Hillary in PA Sunday: Obama portrays Dems as elitist and that loses elections
In a press conference this morning aired on cable news Hillary says Obama still has not cleared up his elitist views his comments depict.

Paraphrased:

She said 'Obama is a good man, but he is portraying an image of the elitist democrats that we need to get away from. You don't have to look to far back to see how dems lose elections when they are portrayed as elitist that are out of touch with middle class America.'

I cannot find it referenced online yet, but to me it clearly sounded like she has framed Obama as the same as John Kerry.

Sounds like she is talking to the SD's.

Anyone else see it, any links you have?

1. She can talk to them all she wants
Unless she can get 75% of them to go with her she is SOL.

2. She's a snake with no chance of winning
and she's going to go out making herself look much worse than she did going in. Killing your party for personal gain is unacceptable and the SD's are going to gather behind Obama because of it.

3. Of course she is talking to the SDs.
They are the only ones who "count".

4. Everything she does now is for the SDs, it's the last miracle left.
This would have more resonance if it hadn't been widely reported for a full week that the Clintons are worth 109 million dollars.

Good luck getting that 65% needed in all states going forward, if you actually want to make an argument the superdelegates might listen to.

7. No, but one reporter asked: Isn't it true your only hope for winning is for Obama to make
a major mistake, isn't this why you keep talking about his comments?

again, paraphrased because I cannot find it online yet.

28. Nice . . . Meanwhile, I personally didn' t care if HRC hung around .. but
the more I see of her the more disgusted I get with her.
I think she's made a huge mistake for any future political goals --- like running for prez again.

And -- I have to say that "worry" article about some kind of attack to actually take Obama out
of the race has me nervous.

I think there was a point when the two candidates were raising interest in the election ---
now, I think HRC is a negative for women, for the party --
and too often she seems to be flying the Republican flag ---

Wake me up when the Clinton supporters realize the absurdity of their candidate's position.

8. She needs to avoid trying to exploit him
someone tell her that her politics and tactics are last century. We are moving on and she is still shooting herself in the foot with her tactics.

I can't say I know what's going to happen for sure but whoever is running her campaign is not grooming her for the presidency.

This is just coming out to make her look like she's only good at "gossiping over the fence" tactics.

11. Obama did it to himself
He screwed up. Not as bad as Hillary's "sniper in bosnia" fable, but a screw-up just the same.

The good rust-belt manufacturing jobs are gone. So people are bitter. Only bitter people have guns or religion. Guns and religion didn't exist in small-town midwest until the job-loss bitterness came in.

Just a moronic thing to say, and he's smarter than that.

22. yeah, who needs that segment of the party
time and again one segment after another is written off as not needed.

The Boomer vote - not needed their racist

The Gay vote - not needed they are to small a group to matter

The White male vote - we never do well with them, we don't need them

The female vote - they are just voting gender, we don't need them

The religious vote - if they don't like Wright we don't need them

I thought the plan was to win the GE, I guess not, winning the primary is good enough

17. Are you THAT desperate? That's not what he said at all.
He said the GOVERNMENT has abandoned people. So those people turn to/cling to other aspects of their lives.

He did not say that ONLY bitter people have guns or religion. You're just lying with that shit.

And given the fact that Obama's Christianity has been dissected for weeks, no one is going to believe that Obama thinks religious people = bitter people.

Stupid, stupid argument.

14. She's just attacked the entire Democratic party with this.
If she's attacking candid discussion, and expects that we as Democrats shy away from that, then she is in fact attacking the entire Democratic party with her charges.

24. OBAMA=SNOB-IT'S AN ELITIST THING....
Obama is trying to put a spin on his own recent words and make it look like he is a victim. He is trying to get the media to report that he only said the people in PA are bitter and they have a right to be. Sorry Obama, it is not going to work.

You(obama) said:

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

These are YOUR words, not guilt by association like Rezko, Ayers, Wright and the others, this is YOUR view, words out of YOUR mouth. Obama, did you say you were sorry? Nope, you tried to act like it is Hillary’s fault then tried to blame it on McCain. You stood by what you said and acted arrogantly about it. There is NO SPIN on this, Obama, you said it, you meant it and you should apologize for it, not try and blame other people for it. This one is on YOU Obama! Stop trying to spin it like you actually care for the people, like you are a victim as these words say something totally different. These are NOT “just words.’

Are you sure you're talking about the same person that we are? Why are you so desperate to make Senator Obama into an elitist? Or is it that you think he's a criminal? Is it the word bitter rather than angry that has you so upset?

Lets look at some real issues.

Read this article and tell me you're OK with this stuff. It may cause you to rethink your total devotion to someone you really may not know at all. It makes Senator Obama's mistakes seem extremely petty.

"He is a good man and a very talented and gifted man but I think his comments were elitist and divisive and the Democratic party has been unfortunately viewed by many people over the last decade as being elitist and out of touch."

29. Well thank you SO much, Mrs. Clinton, for doing the Republicans' work
for them!

I mean, REALLY...they would have had to go to all that trouble to start yet ANOTHER ad campaign that paints the current Democratic nominee as "elitist" and "out of touch" and "the most liberal senator in Congress".

Surely, O Goddess of Peace, they would NEVER run such a campaign against you! You're a fighter! They would quake in fear before your wagging finger and your proclamations of "Shame on you, John McCain!" :sarcasm:
