Why are DU's Hillary supporters allowed to engage in Freeper-like tactics without consequence?
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 12:47 PM by Unsane
Anyone else wondering this? At least ten threads on the front page are right out of Free Republic. "Obama is an elitist," "Obama is not good for working class people," "the McGovernization of Obama!!" etc. WTF happened to this place. Nobody is saying you can't support another candidate, but when all you're doing is throwing around spurious, false RW attacks, you become indistinguishable from the other side.

Say hello to President McSame, you fools.

4. Definitely not as much as "elitist"
"You fools" could be found on any rancorous discussion board, even if the topic was World of Warcraft.

But freeps have been accusing Democrats of "elitism" for years.

35. So much for whatever point you are trying to make with your OP
Agreeing that supporting Clinton is the same as backing McCain is as anti Democrat a charge as can be made in this election year. And with roughly half the Democrats in the country supporting Clinton it literally is as divisive as is possible to paint so many million Democrats in that manner.

40. I think the lengthiness
of this democratic nomination is fraying away people's sanity and patience. They wish it will end. They wish Hillary would just quit because either they hate her or just wish the campaign against mccain will get started....Bill Clinton did not get the nomination until June right? He won right? I too am getting a little antsy about Mccain's free ride but we are in a democratic country where the people decide and it is selling our democratic ideals short if everyone is not heard. As to florida and michigan...they made their bed so they should lie in it. If those voters in those two states really WANT change and WANT their delegates to be seated then they should quit shining about Dean's position, hold new elections and get over it....Those are millions of voters we need to bring into the democratic fold. WE should not bash them because of thier frivilous envy about NH and other states voting before them. We should help them get their voices heard about who they want as president. Granted those voters give more delagates to Clinton as they stand now but if new elections are held then I predict an even distribution of delagates for HIllary and Obama. So why dont we all campaign for donations for new elections in Florida and Michigan so every voice who wants change in america democratically. I agree with Obama's concern about new elections being fair in those states. I do not think he is stating such because as the delagates stand now he loses out. He has shown integrity and I dont think he is showing concern about the demise of his chances for the presidency if those delagates are seated.

Until the incendiary, inflammatory crap comes down, AFTER we have a nominee... you'll need to have your discussions with your 3-Dimensional Neighbors. MOST Clinton supporters are regular folks. I like them. We talk about our candidates... we agree about a lot of stuff.

We talk about the future of the Party. These people posting up the inflammatory crap here... PARROTING THE CORPORATE MEDIA? As if we didn't get enough crap from the boob tube?... I don't know who they are.

They're not friends of the Party... or maybe they're true Dems and just "passionate about their candidate."

I don't even care.

I consign them to the nether realm and, slowly but surely, they're either entombed, or they learn how to game the rules.

45. The nice thing about not liking Clinton is...
The FACTS are damning enough.

Obama just doesn't have to "go there," mud-wrestling in cess.

He's a good egg. I, however, am an asshole. He's sort of a role model for me in that way... (except for the being soft on neo-liberalism - proposing a corporate system of "universal health care" and being SOFT on NAFTA; and a host of other issues that negatively effect our National Autonomy and quality of life.)

lol... I should start a thread... the things I HATE ABOUT OBAMA.

You never hear me say that stuff here... this is sort of a first. And in the General Election, to hear ME talk... If Clinton's my gal... you will think she walks on fuckin water.

I will use flame throwers to defend her. (shhhh, don't tell da ickid and weevil Clintonistas I said dat).

From what I recall, there were some made out of disgust when she accepted the endorsement of Sciafe, the man who engineered and funded the Mena airport, Vince Foster, Ron Brown conspiracies. If I recall, the posts were not about a belief in those conspiracies but about the hypocrisy of the candidate accepting the warm embrace of the man that began the lies, paid for the lies and continues to fund newsmax, one of the worst RW lie factories on the net.

So please, provide the links to other discussions of these conspiracies and how DUers are furthering them and not simply appalled at how low hillary will go to win.

And it is Hillary that keeps repeating lies, Bosnia and then the lies to cover Bosnia, et cetera.

Hillary has made her choices, it has long been cautioned that if she says her experience comes from her time in the White House then all that is that White House and its occupants is subject to scrutiny and replay, constant, sickening and fatiguing replay.

Just goes to prove that you have nothing and when you are cornered and can't back up your nonsense, you go for the jabs and blows, trying to harm while appearing aloof and so sincere . Of course, you do realize that your opinion and the opinions of those you associate with enough to reach that conclusion and share that gossip mean very little, some have their lists that they merrily post in the lounge long before the list controversy began here, some have zombie like existences and some have not so pleasant pasts on other sites that make their glass houses very fragile indeed.

If you are anything, you are consistent in your inability to actually debate a subject or substantiate your claims.

75. I have seen far too many mentions of Monica
but usually as part of a long rant about why somebody hates Hillary but not so much of the other stuff.

56. Why is Obama and his campaign allowed to smear Clinton as a liar since this began
without a peep from a certain faction of the Democrats -- except for running with the smear themselves???

This spectacle in hypocrisy is epic.

60. Why have Obama supporters resorted to freeper tactics for the last several months.
Do they want us to vote for McCain?

"you're throwing around spurious, false RW attacks, you become indistinguishable from the other side.

Say hello to President McSame, you fools."

So true!

It's the vicious right wing attacks that are thrown at Hillary that started this whole hate fest between the two camps...playing right into Freeper hands. Good work fools.

Standard Democratic rhetoric?

79. They're not
If it's flame bait, alert on it, and it will be locked. As is often quoted here, use the damn alert button. If it's an outright rule breaking thread, then use the alert button.

If it's just a negative attention seeking post that doesn't rise to the level of FB, then ignore it (or hide it if you must).

81. My favorite tactic is when they post flamebait and it gets locked...
..and they turn around and blame everyone for it getting locked. Forget that they posted blatant flamebait, it's everyone else's fault for pointing that out.

Another thing that's funny is when they whine about "herd alerting". The only time I've ever talked about alerting anyone in a PM was with a Hillary supporter.
