So I joined this email group called 'Democrats for Actual Change'
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 12:20 PM by proud2Blib
and was immediately deluged with emails supporting Hillary. So I asked how is supporting Hillary actual change. And I got REALLY snotty replies. I was called stupid and people who agreed with me were called asses. The hatred for Obama is nasty, really nasty. One person even accused Obama of wanting to put people behind barbed wire. And of course, they hate Rev Wright and call Obama a racist.

MUCH worse, much nastier than anything posted here on DU.

The conversations have gone way downhill in just the week I have participated so I decided to unsubscribe. Imagine my surprise when I click on 'unsubscribe' and it takes me here:

http://www.democrats.org/page/group/DemocratsforActualChange/listserv-remove

It is a link to the Democratic party website. :wtf:

So is the party actually supporting this crap? Do they WANT us to fight and call each other names or do they want a Democrat elected in November?

1. I doubt the Party is behind this. It sounds like some more BS from
Hillcamp. kinda like "if you don't support us, you're not a democrat"...

If I were you I'd inform the party that this "un-subscribe link" is forwarded to their site. I'm sure they'll have plenty to say about it.

Facts are that Obama and Clinton are both part of the Congress who have no change in mind.

3. I found something interesting today.
Watching BookTv, a presentation by Erika Falk on her book, Women for President. A total Hil shill, and she's giving her talk at the Clinton School for Public Policy.

It really looks like this is fake book commissioned by Clinton BEFORE she declared.

I just can't believe Howard Dean would support this crap on that website.

4. I've spent some time on democrats.org
They give us lots of tools to create our own email groups, parties, etc. The user-generated content is not that closely governed, and I'm sure this is not an official party function kind of thing.

6. But by putting their name on it they are indeed sanctioning it.
And it is really crap. I also am not speaking as an Obama supporter. This is just trash I wouldn't think the party would want to be associated with.

12. Well, do you remember the thing a few weeks ago
where there was some kind of Black Panther group or web page put up at the BarackObama.com website and there was all this poutrage about it? Same exact thing. User generated content is user generated content, period. They probably aren't paying as much attention to that sort of thing on the Democrats website because, well, they're not running a presidential campaign. :)

17. crispini, I remember it and then 2 weeks later the "New Black Panthers"
Were back on the Obama site again. I kept a snapshot of it, but yes, candidates get support from these groups so they allow them on the site. Don't let the Obama Campaign fool you, they accept funding from these groups and so they allow them on there site but in a inconspicuous place.

21. Um, no. It's just like posts on DU.
Imagine what kind of nonsense would wind up on DU if the mods were not fairly vigilant about who they let post here and the content of these posts. We already get too much garbage on here; it would be worse without the "garbage collectors" to take out the trash.

Any site without vigilant gatekeepers and vast amounts of user-generated content is going to wind up with some stuff that is not necessarily kosher. I don't care if it's a militant Hillary group on Democrats.org (which is what the OP is complaining about) or a militant Black Panther group on BarackObama.com. That's just the internet, it's got nothing to do with the politics.

14. I would alert the party via their website, pronto
Write to them or call them and explain what is going on -- tell them how outraged you are that Obama, the front runner, is getting smeared by folks associated with the Democratic Party via their own website. They likely have no clue who is using their various group organizing tools, and what these subgroups are saying/writing, within their own website.

I don't support Hillary but I will vote for the Democratic nominee in November. I just don't see how this kind of crap on the party's own website is helpful.

15. Maybe we should
start a new democratic primary web site and closely guard it from the lame idiots who are just flaming the other person because opinion differs from theirs. Ugh! Tossing up things like "spin.." and "republican talking points.." like I dont have a mind of my own and some robo republican master is in control of my brain. I think for myself and dont fall victim to either political party's dark sides. Granted there is more darkness in the republican party than the democrat party which is why I chose democrat as my party affiliation a long time ago.

9. If it's from party builder...and seems out of line...post about it or write the DNC
Party builder is a tool for organizing. I have seen people post stuff that was inappropriate at the blog.

http://dnc.org/blog.html

Or you can contact them.

http://dnc.org/contact.html

I doubt they realize it is there.

16. Exactly. As crispini pointed out above, our local party uses Party Builder, too, as an
organizing tool for volunteers within the local party framework -- comments, notices of events and such go pretty much uncensored by the party employees and/or main volunteers.

In fact, I have a party on there myself right now. I could have titled it "Wild Nudists Gathering to Support Presidential Candidate X" and it probably would have gone un-noticed. Heh. (For a while.)

and to suggest she has a power mad ego is just nonsense. She is a smart woman and I believe she will endorse Obama if he wins. To not do so would be political suicide. I see them both in some town together on the campaign trail to win the presidency laughing together about the contentiousness of their nomination race.
