The clarity of Hillary Clinton's duplicity on religion
Hillary Clinton 4/12/08

''I grew up in a church-going family, a family that believed in the importance of living out and expressing our faith. The people of faith I know don't 'cling' to religion because they're bitter. People embrace faith not because they are materially poor, but because they are spiritually rich.

''Our faith is the faith of our parents and our grandparents. It is a fundamental expression of who we are and what we believe.''

''People don't need a president who looks down on them,'' she said. ''They need a president who stands up for them.''

Hillary Clinton 3/25/08

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a wide-ranging interview today with Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporters and editors, said she would have left her church if her pastor made the sort of inflammatory remarks Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor made.

"He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."

I prefer a president who does not exploit anything in the name of religion simply because it is politically expedient to do so.

Her mission of seek and destroy is so transparent now. Hillary's condescending comment regarding Obama as a president who "looks down on them" is in itself, as hypocrtical as it gets. She knows what he meant, but any spin will do as she tries to deride the democratic party's likely nominee.

I'm confident the electorate will see through this hypocrisy; in fact, we already have.

1. She's such an asshole. I'm so done with the Clintons.
If she somehow manages to pull this thing off I will have to put a clothespin on my nose and handle my ballot with tongs in November.

5. I wish your candidate would show some.
I'm a random blogger, not someone who is applying for the (arguably) most important position in the world. She needs to start acting in a manner befitting the position she seeks.

3. With 50% of marriages failing, people like to think they can choose families too.
And often over the dumbest of excuses, though I won't deny legitimate reasons for sure.

4. She was asked a question, and gave an asnwer...
...sorry, but in the real world that's answering a question, not seeking to destroy.

6. How does her answer benefit Obama vs McCain?
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 02:09 PM by RiverStone
It does not.

It only adds another RW talking point to the collection the pukes will recycle against him in the fall.

Hillary has every right to say what she says, what I can't fathom is the degree of short sightedness she demonstrates in doing so. There is a huge difference between touting her own qualifications, and making sweeping statements which diss Obama's personality as our president.

Someone may need to remind her, that even if she is not the nominee - we do want to WIN this November!

If her arrow misses Obama, but hits the democratic raft and causes another leak, does she care? Apparently not.
