Clinton Expresses Frustration with the Democratic Party
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 04:26 PM by sabra

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/04/clinton-express.html

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., vented frustration that the Democratic Party has failure to come to a resolution about how to handle the convention delegations in Florida and Michigan.

"I really don’t understand why the Republican Party very clearly decided what they were going to do, and the Democratic Party can’t decide," Clinton said going further than she has in the past in her critique.

Senator Clinton then turned on her opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., saying "he doesn’t want the votes to count. Senator Obama has been very very clear - do not count those votes or come up with some kind of resolution which disenfranchises people."

An exasperated Senator Clinton burst into a fit of laughter, after being asked twice about the Colombia trade deal and a possible conflict of interest with her differing opinions she has with her husband. When asked if there was a conflict of interest specifically with her husband receiving $800,000 for speaking engagements ostensibly in support of the trade deal and Clinton giving her own money to her own campaign, Clinton burst out laughing. "And how many angels dance on the head of a pin. I have really, nothing to, I mean how do you answer that. I am against the Colombia free trade deal. It doesn’t matter who talks to me. It doesn’t matter any circumstances I’ve been against it I am against it I will be against it."

...

Clinton was asked if she agreed with Elton John, that misogyny had played a role in this campaign. Clinton said "look you can’t ignore that gender and race are embodied in our two candidacies. We are who we are. And that produces reactions of all kinds from people but at the end of the day people have to decide who they think will be the best president."

Clinton made her comments at an airport in Pittsburgh, PA.

4. That is a GOP trick...
"I really don’t understand why the Republican Party very clearly decided what they were going to do, and the Democratic Party can’t decide," Clinton said going further than she has in the past in her critique.

Why is she pretending that the Democratic party cannot decide when they clearly did? Why is she using GOP tactics?

She needs to stop before she turns into Joe Leiberman.

15. and bash Obama
she wants Obama to lose Michigan if he is the nominee and to be uncompetetive in Florida.

Never mind that if she dropped out and we had a nominee that Michigan and Florida would not be divisive issues. Never mind that both Florida and Michigan could have avoided this by not moving their primaries ahead of Feb. 5th. Never mind that Hillary herself made everybody anxious to be early because she and the media promoted the idea that it would be over by Feb. 5th.

17. Hillary pretends to understand the difference between words and actions ...
... and then proceeds to demostrate that her words ARE at odds with her actions.

She aptly models someone who cannot seem to heed Paul Wellstone's advice to "never separate the lives you live from the words you speak."

30. Hillary turns on anyone or anything that doens't do what she wants...
...We saw it with African-Americans who voted for Obama, and with states that voted for Obama. She has insulted Obama supporters, clearly one of her most short-sighted vindictive snits of her career.

Since the Democratic Party won't automatically change rules to fit whatever mother-may-I-scenario du juor she wants to use to make her failing campaign the winner, she, of course, is turning on the Democratic Party now.

55. I have been on the ABC News blog posting under this same article.....
When I started - a few hours ago - there were many angry Hillary supporters throwing lies out all over the place. However, the Obama bloggers posted sane blogs supported with facts. One by one the Clinton hate-mongers fell off the site and the rest of us had an intelligent debate on the issues - even the Clinton bloggers who could blog intelligently. It was really stimulating. The Clinton supporters seemed to be getting the message that it is over.

36. WOW, so she doesn't know the difference between the republicons Rules and the Democrat RULES

Let me explain this to you Hillary. Republicons winner takes ALL. Democrats candidates are awarded delegates. The Democratic Party is a complicated process.

You would think she would know this by now, since that is how her husband won. I'm not so sure about her ready to lead on day one.

Her being disingenuous about MI and FL, leads me to believe she is also disingenuous about her hubby's Columbia Free Trade ties.

Running the country is even more complicated than the Democratic Party RULES.

38. OK, been looking for a place to jump into this fray...so here goes..and I'd like feedback please
This whole primary season has left me with a surreal sort of feeling..As though I see what goes on, but I am outside of it, because it's been making NO sense to me, there is no logic to it...and I have been driving myself nuts trying to figure out what the hell is going on....so today on another venue, where people have been discussing the primaries, and what we think.....a person made a comment that just smacked me in the face like a glass of ice water...I am going to state a couple things, and I want to know, if I am perceiving wrong...or if I am right...
Obama is DNC...could we consider that he is the DNC candidate?
Hillary is DLC is that correct...so she is the DLC candidate, right?

Now Hillary says that the DNC is responsible for the mess in Fla. and Mich., as pertains to the delegates, right?

They both say they are staying in the race until the convention...no matter what happens...

Is it possible that the whole thing going on, is a power play/grab attempt between the DNC/DLC? That the DLC wing of the Democratic party is attempting to take over control of the party?

What the person said, was something to the effect that she was afraid this was going to be dragged to the convention, and in spite of numbers, that HRC would be, at convention, named the nominee, in spite of numbers...and that his delegates would then leave the convention w/o endorsing her...and that would be the end of the Democratic party...does that sound possible to any of you??

I don't have a horse in this race...I don't care for either of them...but I wonder who is in the background forcing what issues? who is manipulating these primaries and what is talked about? How about these candidates talk about the issues??? instead of each other??? Where is Karl Rove, and what is he up too??? Why am I reading that McCain has drawn even with them both...??? what??? WHY is that?? How could that happen???

I have talked to other people who say the same thing I do...we have 3 candidates total, yet have no one to vote for..I can tell you, that lots of people are feeling that way...so where does that leave us?

IF the DLC wing of this party wins the nomination...does that then mean that we have a one party system, more or less?? (wasn't HC a Republican at one time, and don't people call the DLC the right wing of the Dem party?) Can they(Rove and whomever else is involved) cause enough in fighting, bring up enough shit on our candidates iow, to cause us to lose?? Is that possible???

I don't even want to get into my thoughts on McCain...other than, he's a plant...they can't stand him, and I don't think a McCain presidency is really what they want...so I would be watching very carefully to see who they choose for his VP...That's really the one we have to worry about...please someone help me out here...I want to know what the rest of you think..am I wrong...??? please don't flame, because there is NO intent on my part to cause problems...I am just trying to understand what the hell is going on...because things just aren't sitting square for me...and when that person said, she thought it was going to be a war between the two parts of this party, maybe even to the point of destroying the party itself...it shook me up, because the whole thing finally seemed to make sense......wb

ps: also apologize...not trying to steal the thread...but seemed to be a good place to ask..
