A BIG PICTURE question about Hillary and sexism
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 10:37 AM by nomad1776
Suppose for the sake of arguement, we accept the premise that Hillary's campaign has been hurt by sexist attitudes. Now one would have to think that there are less sexists attitudes in the Democratic party subset, than there is in the Country as a whole. That being the case, what chance does Hillary have of winning the general election? After all it's a safe bet the sexism problems will get worse, not better.

Seems to me those Hillary supporters that are crying "sexism" are also saying that their candidate has no chance of winning in November. So why would the Dems want to nominate someone that has no chance? Is making a stand for equal gender rights, more important than reclaiming the Country from the Republicans that have and are still ruining it?

So those that like to indulge in the sexism victim role, might want to think twice about doing so. You are all but saying your candidate is unelectable.

1. You could make the same case about Obama
But I wouldn't. I think it's time we stop making excuses and take the chance, one way or another. Yes, Clinton will lose some votes because of sexism. Yes, Obama will lose some votes because of racism. We knew that going in and it is not going to be easy, but I think it can be done, but only if we have all hands on deck and work our asses off for whoever gets the nomination. I am committed to doing that one way or another, and I hope the true Democrats here are as well.

2. I don't see Obama supporters complaining about racism
I do see the Hillary people saying she is a victim of sexism. So the question is valid for Hillary, more so than Obama.
