How many of you DUers have participated in Democratic county conventions so far?
Me, I survived the 16th Senatorial Convention in Dallas, TX on March 29 with 5,000 of my closest Democratic friends. And you?

Note to Moderators: I want Clinton supporters and Obama supporters alike to feel comfortable here.

2. Our county caucuses are next week.
I did manage to live through our legislative district caucus on Saturday. My bum is still sore from the gymnasium bleachers, but that's a pretty small price to pay. Next weekend should be more fun (I hope).

3. Prepare for some serious crowds - and bring a cushion
It's probably going to get loud and boisterous at times, but please hang in there.

4. We don't have county conventions
Our next step is the state convention at the end of May. I'll be there.

5. I made it through my County caucus, on to the Congressional District caucus
I will say, though, that everyone who was there made it, because of low turnout. Only 19 of 29 delegates to the CD were filled. It won't affect our state numbers, however, as the CD delegates heading to Denver are set in stone already. We'll just have less County people to vote at the CD (comprised of 19 counties) caucus.

6. I did, and it was great.
People were excited and there was no negativity towards anyone except Bush and McCain.

7. Convention secretary here
Our county convention was huge. It went swimmingly, until the end when it was time to discuss the platform. That was brutal! (but probably only because I was the secretary). We did go 2 hours over the expected adjournament time, so we had to pay extra $ for the hall. Good times! :)

12. Our platform chair was POd!
She said half the people debating the minutiae of the platform wording were on the Platform Committee, but never showed up for any of the meetings! Then they came and crapped all over it at the convention. They also didn't seem to grasp the fact that none of what they were debating would make it into the district platform anyway. Oh - my favorite were the 2 college gals who insisted on adding a plank for a balanced federal budget, despite the nice explanation of Keynesian economic theory put forth by the Platform Committee member who coordinated that section of the platform (he's an economist, fer chrissakes).

Thanks for the link and vote reminder. I wasn't sure who to vote for....JUST KIDDING! :)

10. SD 15 in Houston
All in all a civil affair. There was one young lady, a Clinton supporter, who was convinced evil bad things were going on and she kept trying to grab the microphone and rile everyone up. Even the Hillary supporters in the crowd got upset with her.
