Do you believe McCain’s team will successfully rein in his “gaffes”

Or will his senior moments continue to spill forth in all their glory.

1. Monarchs reign over kingdoms. Horses are steered with reins.
That is all.

12. I think the OP is right in usage
McCain's staff is not reigning over him, as in ruling. Rather they are controlling unruly behavior, as a skilled rider would give a horse "tight rein," i.e. "reining in McCain's gaffes" would suggest better control over his loose lips.

His staff won't "give him the leash," allowing him to say whatever he wants.

Yay, animal metaphors!

3. No, McCain will be prodded to show his angry side all through the GE
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 01:48 PM by DJ13
Its his biggest weakness, and unless his campaign drugs him up to mellow him out, the Democrats will have an easy time of provoking him.

6. Yep. If you are a hothead, which he is, it is near impossible to hide. Wait until he is under some
pressure in the General, he will become unglued. Bet on it. The guy is mentally unbalanced.

5. No, He'll shoot himself in either or both feet regularly...
and then probably get really angry about it. With just a little help he'll go into a complete meltdown at a debate or some other public location. He's had a hard life and the tracks are there to be seen. No 'swiftboating' required, just light the fuse and get out of the way.

8. Take him lightly at your peril. His "gaffes" are seen as humanizing

by many.

11. No one every successfully reigned in Bush's Gaffes... It didn't hurt him.
Why they hell should they try with McCain. I dont' think 98% of the American people will know he said them or understand what he said if they hear them.

14. It has nothing to do with "senior moments"
He's just an asshole. There is a book coming out about him that may just be devastating to his campaign. Raw story has some excerpts..

He's got the experience alright. :eyes:

15. Concerning 'Senior Moments'
Here's a post I did a few weeks ago. My mother is 85 and she is really unhappy about McCain.

How to challenge on senior moments

16. If this guy can insult his wife as obscenely as he reportedly did,
in front of other people, they'll never be able to control him!
