Breaking **** McCain: Obama 'Absolutely' Qualified to Be President
UNBELIEVABLY MCCAIN HAS HIGHER VIEW OF OBAMA'S QUALIFICATIONS THAN CLINTON

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/04/06/mccain_obama_absolutely_qualif.html

By Zachary A. Goldfarb
Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, said Sunday that the leader for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, would be "absolutely" qualified to be president, should the voters elect him. But, he said, "I believe that my talent and my background and my experience, which has led to my judgment, ... qualifies me more."

In his first Sunday talk show appearance since locking up the GOP nomination last month, McCain criticized Obama and others for making too much of his comment that the United States could remain in Iraq for 100 years, or a period similar to the length of the U.S. presence in Germany and South Korea.

"Senator Obama and anyone who reads that knows that I didn't think we were in a 100-year war," he said on "Fox News Sunday."

Days after going to Memphis to mark the 40th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, McCain repeated that he "was wrong" to vote in 1983 against establishing a federal holiday to honor King. He added, as he did Friday, that he thought better of his mistake in time to back such a holiday in his home state of Arizona.

McCain also confirmed that he would meet next week with Secret Service officials next week and expects to have agents protecting him "shortly thereafter." McCain previously had refused such protection.

3. it would be stupid to say otherwise considering he supported Bush
this is true just about any politician. you don't want to say anything like Hillary did even of the person of the other party because there is always a chance you will support someone with similar or less qualifications.

that's why what Hillary said sucked so much.

McCain said Kerry was ready to be President in 2004 also. so it's pretty consistent.

5. talk about a cluster-fuck. Clinton praises McCain, McCain praises Obama.. what next?
so now is Obama supposed to praise Clinton??? This is all getting a bit weird.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone hold their breath waiting for Obama join in, or
to do anything other than continue to run a kick-ass campaign all the way to the
freaking White House.

13. this is not so much praise of Obama as respect
Just says he is qualified to be president.

Of course, it IS ironic that some followers of Clinton are so disrespectful that they won't even begrudge that Obama is qualified to be president. It is not enough for them to say Hillary is better. They want to say Obama is not even qualified to be president. Which just goes to show that they are even less respectful than some Republicans! Nothing like party unity!

30. See what McCain said. He isn't a monster like BUSH is.
I don't agree with much of his platform on issues but he isn't a monster like Bush/Cheney/Rove. He said Obama was qualified which was a god thing to say. However, people on DU are painting him just like Bush and that's just not true. That said, I will never vote for him. The gay community makes up 5 or 6 % of the general public vote and pretty much all of them will vote for a democrat because we know we will never have equal rights under a Republican.
